Antique look and feel of these trains and the quaint little town of Cass give you the true feeling that you have traveled back in time. Bring your camera and your coat ( and mittens if you are riding in the fall) and you will see West Virginia from Bald Knob Mountain. We took the 4 hour train trip, and it was nice to sit back and look out the window at the fabulous view. PLEASE NOTE: When they sell you the tickets, they say that having a ticket DOES NOT guarantee you a seat!!! They mean it!!!! On our ride, when everyone boarded, our car was so full, it was standing room only! That means you ARE STANDING FOR 4 HOURS. Thankfully, they added another railcar to the train, and we switched cars and were able to get a seat. I hear the busy time is in the fall. I would ask how busy they have been when you call to make reservations. ALSO, if you are taking the 4 hour tour, bring a lunch!!! You can order a box lunch to go from the restaurant The Last Run at the train station and it will be ready for you. We didn't bring a lunch, and really wish we did!!! Kids will love this, but the 2 hour ride is probably long enough. I think they will get bored during the 4 hour ride. But if you want to sit and listen to train whistles as you watch the beautiful landscape, this is a wonderful afternoon.
