Agree with clean and friendly. They are not offering to sell you the mattress, unlike some higher end chains, but it's also unlikely they would sell any. Cabins are cute and functional, with porches front and back overlooking well maintained grounds and some impressive rock outcroppings.

Internet offered, but at the speed of dial up. Local dining options are very limited. Mallots a subject of a shout out by another reviewer was as simple and uninteresting as any local restaurant I have encountered and I'm a small town diner lover.

Great area for scenery, fishing and hiking, not dining.

Thank your for your response, but to make everyone aware we actually have mattresses on order as we speak and you will actually be able to buy the mattress from our resort!! How funny. Many things that we had in plan got delayed by the arson case that we had on our Smoke Hole Gift Shop financially. Improvement on these are on the way. As always, for all of us, its only time and money! Hope to find you here again in the future.

My friend and I came to WV for a weekend of rock climbing at Seneca rocks, and we wanted to stay at a place where we could cook our meals. The Smoke Hole Country Cottage Cabins were very convenient to the climbing area, and they had a full kitchen with appliances and pots, pans, plates, and silverware. The unit was clean with good hot water for showers, and the thermostat controlled the baseboard heaters and the gas fireplace; very nice.
The only negatives were pretty minor: you can't order pay per view movies like you can in most motels/hotels; that would be a big plus, and we had to buy filters for the drip coffee maker. We would definitely stay here again though; it was a good trip.

We stay in the RV campground each year (last 11) and it is the same now as when we started. It works and we can fish in the river that runs beside of it. Our biggest issue is the cost for what you get. No bathhouse or bathrooms. Must have them in your camper in order to be able to camp here. Full hookups are nice, but a couple have 50 amp only. Check before you set-up camper or may have to move or find a way to purchase a converter! There are bushes growing between sites that serve no purpose. They limit what you can do in your "front yard" and make it difficult to park, if you have a deeper slideout. The campfire pits are behind the campsites and are adequate, but the layout is frustrating at times. We stay at other campgrounds for less money and have better lots with more room and a better set-up all the time. This place could make the price fit the product with better weekday rates and lower rates all around. Or they could invest the money they are making and have a better campground that I would tell everyone about!

My husband and I made our first visit in 2011. Just got home from our 3rd visit and it is a great trip every time. The cabins at the resort are clean. The staff are very friendly. My husband has thoroughly enjoyed fishing the stream on the property with Josh. We love the area and it is so relaxing. Thanks guys for a wonderful time and hope to see you again next year!!

One of the nicest caverns we’ve seen. The Caverns have an interesting history – they were used by Indians to smoke meat (hence the name smoke hole); then during civil war to hide or treat wounded soldiers; then by moonshiners; now private. Funny and interesting tour guide. Ribbon formations and several columns. Huge gift shop; found a couple of good gift ideas- nice spices. Only negative is it seemed a little pricey for a 45 min tour of the Caverns, but I still give it a 5 stars.

The owners and staff of Smoke Hole Cabins and Resort made our 26th anniversary trip one we will remember for a long time. The Hedrick family went out of their way to for us. The cabin was neat and gave us a warm and cozy feeling. The property is very well kept and there were plenty of things for us to do. The gift shop and carvers are a must. The on site trout fishing is unreal. My wife and I have been to several cabin resorts like this, but we have now found a home and will return again. Oh Yeah, be careful reading the reviews some people expect a five star hotel. Remember these are cabins with a fireplace in the country. Not Park Ave in New York. This place is great.

We had to visit WV for a family funeral. Stayed at the motel lodge with my father. No service for anything available in the am. WE had to check out and drive to find food. TV had only ESPN and cartoon channel. 13 channels were listed. Off season not so good I guess. Room was clean.

Room Tip: May try the cabins next time intead of motel.
