My family normally dines at Temptations Cafe when we're in Berkeley Springs, but when that was closed for renovation for several weeks, we decided to give Lot 12 a try. We were aware that Lot 12's prices are higher, but since it's normal to pay more for a "fine dining" experience and the exceptional food that normally goes with it, that wasn't a problem. However, we found that while the food is very good, it's no better than Temptations Cafe, where we've never had a single dish that we didn't consider excellent. Also, the portions are smaller (about half the size, in the case of my swordfish entree), and the selection is more limited on both the regular menu and the specials list.
So, while our meal did not exactly disappoint - we had no complaints about the either the food quality or the service - we did not consider it to be a particularly good value. And even if the prices were identical, we all agreed that we prefer our normal destination because of the better selection, better value, and larger portions. So if you find yourself in Berkeley Springs and are considering eating at Lot 12, do yourself a favor, go five blocks down the street, and try Temptations Cafe instead. Better yet, if you've never eaten at either one, try both and decide for yourself.
