Tamarind is a large round shop full of crafts made in West Virginia, ranging from knit items to pottery to sculptures and on and on. The items are all very high quality, which also means that prices are high. Even if you don't buy anything, it is a great place to stop, stretch your legs walking around and enjoy the beautiful items that are available. They also have artisans demonstrating their products. When i went there was a potter turning items on a wheel, a man demonstrating his mountain pipes (sound like pan pipes) and even a local college choir singing in their auditorium. There is a large cafeteria and very clean restrooms as well.

This center is described as the "Best of West Virginia" referring to WV artisans and the handmade items they create. Be prepared to shop for jewelry, pottery, wood carvings, furniture, toys, quilts, etched glass and more. Plan your visit around artist demonstrations and special events (concerts) and lunch (which is prepared by professional staff and features regional cuisine) which has good value and high quality.

A place that displays the work of some of the finest artisans in the area. Plenty to see, but expect to pay top dollar! Nice restaurant inside too! Worth a visit!

Tamarack has become a annual must visit for my family, more often when possible. We like to stop for the superb food and then to see the displays and to shop for Christmas and birthdays in the marvelous artisan creations selections. If you will be anywhere near Beckley stop and be wowed. If can arrange a special stop at Beckley, do so and visit this Appalachian gem.

Impressive, Informative and a lot of fun. We just happened to see this place while at a rest stop and thought we would visit it. So glad that we did. The items on display are all made by local, West Virginia artists. Some items are expensive while others are very reasonable. The building is circular which makes it quite easy to view the works of the artists. A stop here is well worth the time. While visiting the Tamarack, I recommend a stop at the food court. We sampled the broccoli soup with aged cheddar-it was delicious! The pulled pork had just the right mixture of being sweet and tangy while the creamy coleslaw added a perfect finish to the lunch. Even though we chose soup and sandwiches, some of the entrees looked very inviting. We enjoyed our stop here and believe you will too. Highly recommended!
