Every year my husband and drive south from Western PA to Fla, we make our lunch stop and big break at Tamarack, because we can count on delicious Greenbrier food, cafeteria style but top quality taste....and delicious ice cream, a place to walk around inside to see the West Virginia artisans showcased and outside, to give the dog a walk. There are many places to sit and eat, usually no wait time even when they are busy and so much to see.

We stopped for lunch at Tamarack with our two small children during a road trip. The crafts are interesting to see, some are reasonably-priced. There is an outdoor area for dining, a few small structures children can play on. There are many delicate crafts inside, so beware if you have a small child who needs to run. Hold them close!

I was absolutely unimpressed with the food court. The food was less than average and expensive. It is cafeteria-style - again a difficult way to maneuver if you have little ones. You might want to simply eat at the travel plaza if you have small kids.

It is definitely more interesting than stopping at a gas station. We will probably stop again to see how it has changed. There are live shows during certain times of the week - might be worth planning your travel times around one.

This place is beautiful and it's full of amazing things made by WV artists. The restaurant has DELICIOUS food prepared by Greenbrier chefs. This is one of my favorite stops.

What a beautiful place to see & explore! Always something different depending on what time of the year you go! They have several events & craft shows during the year with local artists too! Last time we visited they had a big wooden train with cars filled with marbles you could buy,my daughter loved that! She filled up a bag & it was not very much at all! Some items are pricey depending on what your wanting/looking at to buy! A lot of the items are hand made! During Christmas a local artist was painting ornaments & you could get them personalized! During the summer they had a wishing well & fountain! Very nice restaurant to have a meal & sit down & relax! The ice cream is very delicious & my daughter asks for some every time we go! They also have very nice clean bathrooms! Big theature with comfortable seats for events! They have a lot of rocking chairs to sit down in & relax or to take a photo of your child or grandchildren! Bring a camera because there are several great photo opportunities like the hound dog barking up the tree!! A great place to stop & see if your traveling through the area or just to have a nice day trip with your family!

Heading south from Charlestown to Beckley, you will begin seeing the signs for Tararack. Don't think for a minute this is the local trading post filled with useless trinkets manufactured in foreign lands. You will discover high quality locally made crafts from a variety of skilled artists and craftsmen. Beautiful glassware, carvings, paintings, textiles, and much, much more await you in this modern and beautifully appointed facility. Good food as well for the hungry traveler and spacious grounds to walk that pet waiting for freedom from the car carrier. I have stopped several times over the last few years on my way from Chicago to North Carolina and there are still things I have not seen. Take a relaxing break from driving, pull into their ample parking lots, and enjoy a special offering from West Virginia.
