“A great hotel in the heart of downtown Yakima”
Reviewed August 30, 2011

The central location of this friendly, clean and comfortable hotel make it a great destination for an overnight stay when visiting Yakima in eastern Washington. The inviting foyer, with its beautiful arrangement of flowers, is a welcoming introduction when checking in to this 111 room property. Rooms are comfy and most have a bit of a view of the street below and the scorched brown hills at the outskirts of town. Although there is a grill and a lounge in the lobby, there are plenty of eateries and unique wine tasting rooms nearby. Rooms have nice toiletries, big beds and flat screen TVs. Staff are friendly but you pay for the buffet breakfast. There is a business centre, a swimming pool, fitness centre, a pantry for sundry items, and parking is complimentary. The quiet central air conditioning provides welcome relief from the heat of summer in Yakima. If you happen to be in Yakima on Sunday morning, make sure to take in the farmers market just two blocks from the hotel.

Room Tip: All of the 111 rooms are being upgraded with flatscreen LG televisions.

We’ve stayed in Hilton Garden Inns in 3 cities now, and the experience continues to be great. In Yakima we found the same high quality spacious rooms, friendly and professional staff, a great breakfast package, good internet and business facilities and a good choice of food at the American Grill. Each hotel has its own décor touches and this one has a grand piano in the lobby and more of a laid-back country feel, which was nice.
Everything in our King Evolution room was clean, fresh and well-maintained. Internet access was good and equipment in the guest laundry, business and fitness centers was well-looked after. Free parking was available in the car park next to the hotel, or in the underground car park but this had a steep slope down from the street after trying it we parked up above.
The room we were given at check in looked out onto part of the hotel roof and didn’t have much light, so we asked if another was available with more light since we were working while travelling. The reception staff were very helpful and moved us up one floor and around to the other side of the building. This room had a different layout and was slightly bigger – but only had a CRT TV instead of the nicer flat screen TV in the room we’d left. But then the next day when we came back late afternoon, technicians were installing a flat screen one in our new room. They said new TVs were being rolled out in all rooms over the next week or so.
There are several restaurants within walking distance. Our favourite was 2nd Street Grill a couple of blocks away, when we didn’t eat at the American Grill in the lobby. We visited the Yakima Valley Museum which has great exhibits about Yakima’s past and present. Next door was a restored Soda Fountain Diner– with black and white check floor, formica tables and red and silver bar stools and chairs. Well worth a visit for ice cream, drinks or snacks.
We also saw the Yakama Nation Cultural Center at Toppenish which presents the history of the Yakama Nation and is well worth a visit.

We were treated properly and professionally as Hilton HHonors members here. I very nice room with a flat screen TV. The underground parking garage is a nice feature here,as this is Downtown Yakima and Yakima can have it's issues. Great Hotel, Good staff, you really can't go too wrong with Hilton Garden Inn, and Yakima does theirs better than many others do! Lots of good places to eat in Yakima, see our other reviews.

Everything was perfect from check in to check out. Yakima's Hilton Garden Inn is super clean - I'm a clean freak & very picky and I was impressed with this hotel. Our room was perfect with comfortable beds & pillows, convenient fridge & microwave, clean & well stocked bathroom. The pool area was great (the pool was a little cold) and the hot tub was relaxing! The secure underground parking garage was a huge plus & was included with our stay!! I saved the best for last - the breakfast buffet. This breakfast feast was the most amazing hotel breakfast we've ever experienced. Made-to-order omlets, heaping piles of bacon, sausage, eggs, biscuits & gravy, fruit, yogurt, toast, make-your-own waffles, cereal...there is way too much to sample it all. We booked the "bed & breakfast" deal so the buffet for our family of three was super cheap compared to eating out elsewhere. The staff was very accomodating & friendly every time we encountered them. We were in town for a family reunion and sadly didn't get to spend enough time enjoying the hotel pool; this is our only regret. If we're ever in Yakima overnight again we will, without a doubt, stay at the Hilton Garden Inn.

Room Tip: Book the bed & breakfast package!

After our stay in a Toppenish hotel, it was a real relief to find this place. Our room was smaller than the room in Toppenish but much more thoughtfully laid out with a desk, secure WIFI, etc. Bed was comfortable, and bathroom was nicely designed. The desk clerk was very helpful. The room was significantly less expensive than what we got in Toppenish. I would stay here again.

Travelled to Yakima for teenage sports event. The rooms are clean and the furniture new and comfortable. I would rate this hotel at a 3.5, almost 4*, but only because it does not have all the amenities that a 4* would have, but it is very nice. There is free parking underneath the hotel and the rooms are quiet. This is a good hotel if you have business in downtown Yakima and need to stay parked all day. The free internet was not great, they need to boost up the reception, but otherwise very pleasant stay.

The HGI is in downtown Yakima. This is a good location to walk from when going to dinner, wine tasting rooms or the convention center. The hotel has the standard appointments - not too memorable but clean and comfortable. The breakfast room is spacious and there is a small bar with restaurant service as well. The lobby has cozy seating. The staff here is helpful, efficient and enthusiastic. Everything was to our satisfaction, would definitely stay here again rather than the hotels closer to the freeway.
