“An excellent little museum.”
Reviewed December 6, 2012

I've been to the Yakima Valley Museum quite a few times. Their collection of horse-drawn vehicles will amaze you, but you can find something for everyone at this lovely museum. I especially like the Yakama Indian exhibits, the prehistoric fossils and the Museum soda fountain. If you wish to travel back in time to bygone days, give this great little museum a visit. :-)

“Worth the Time!”
Reviewed October 3, 2012

While traveling in Oregon, I wanted to learn more about former Supreme Court William O. Douglas, who hails from Yakima Washington. A staff member came out of her office and gave me a Douglas brochure and pointed me to the exhibit. There were items from his Supreme Court office and personal background information on this jurist. The other parts of the museum are intriguing too. There are some nice items in their gift shop. Learning about Indian and other culture, and the apple industry was very informative. This is a very well put together museum.

“Awesome Place... Very Knowledgable Staff”
Reviewed September 7, 2012

The staff was so helpful & bent over backwards to help us. We came here to research our family history in the Yakima Valley. Wiley City is named after our Great, Great Grandpa They spent several hours helping us pull up old photos, land maps etc from the 1800s. The Museum has original county books of land tracks, maps & official books of brands from way way back. The best part was when Mike saw a notation on collections & went down in the basement & brought up the actual Brand our family used back in the 1870s as well as a pair of boots our G.G.GF wore (boy he had small feet). Both Mike & John had quite extensive knowledge of the area & founding families in the area. What an awesome trip. The museum has a great Kids area with exhibits as well as an old time soda fountain on the back side of the museum (since blueberries in season I had a blueberry shake). The museum is open from 10-5 Tues - Sat. Can't thank the staff enough for the personal attention they paid us during our visit.

“First class museum in Yakima Valley”
Reviewed August 30, 2012

Don't miss the regional historical displays including covered wagons and indiginous peoples artifacts. Good for families--everyone will learn. Always something fun happening in this beautifully maintained facility. Located on the grounds of Franklin Park where the kids can run and play. The Museum Ice Crean Shop is delightful for lunch and snacks.

“boring for younger children”
Reviewed August 24, 2012

The children's underground has basically been gutted - this was our favorite part of the museum. The exhibits are a bit stale.
