Don't miss the regional historical displays including covered wagons and indiginous peoples artifacts. Good for families--everyone will learn. Always something fun happening in this beautifully maintained facility. Located on the grounds of Franklin Park where the kids can run and play. The Museum Ice Crean Shop is delightful for lunch and snacks.

The children's underground has basically been gutted - this was our favorite part of the museum. The exhibits are a bit stale.

Visit the ice cream soda shoppe on the ground floor! Current exhibits are fun and worth the time. Air conditioned makes the time worth while.

A place to learn about the area. A well maintained facility and the displays are outstanding. The people working there were very friendly and inforative about the displays. I am looking forward to going back in the future!

The Yakima Valley Museum is a very active location in Yakima. They have permanent displays that are very interesting. They include old horse drawn carriages, cars and historical neon lights.

They have two displays areas that change periodically. The quality and presentation of items is excellent and the topics are very interesting. When displaying local items of unknown origin they invite visitors to help identify or describe the items. So it feels interactive rather than just something to stare at.

In the basement they have an area dedicated to children. There is a reading area, some computers to use, animal furs to identify, and even a reproduction of an old western town (small) that the kids can go in and out of. There is a large wagon they can climb on and old west clothing to wear. You can buy an annual membership and bring your kids as often as you want to it makes for an excellent activity for people with kids.

The museum frequently hosts talks on different topics of interest. They bring in experts and you can sit and listen and then ask questions. I attended one of these talks about the beginning of the railway in Yakima and it was very interesting.

The museum also includes a "malt shop" where you can get food and ice-cream. It's a very attractive venue. The food is decent but overpriced. It's still a fun special event though.

Right next to the museum is a public pool and a city park so there is lots of things to do here.
