We went to the olive garden for dinner on New Years Eve and I had the best Chicken Parmesan I've ever had. It was a very generous amount of food and the marinara sauce was seasoned perfectly. The accompaning bread sticks had just the right amount of garlic and the house salad was fresh and not made up in advance like other resturants. Worth every penny and the service was great!!!

Ordered the "Tuscan Grille", the chicken was cold, the steak did not even have any grill marks on it and the vegetables were over cooked. The manager was nice about it and explained that they no longer have a gas grill, they switched to a flat iron which makes it difficult to make now. He offered me a free dinner and sugested the salmon. When it came it was over cooked and had no flavor. Stick to the Pasta i guess. Waitress was nice, but felt bad for us.

I hadn't realised this was part of a chain, not that that would have led us to eat elsewhere necessarily. Anyway, this is a huge restaurant but they were only using a small section when we visited mid week.

The plethora of menus was confusing and our server clearly had a script she had to go through with us - we prefer a more laid back approach.

The portion sizes were huge - food was average; nothing wrong with it, but it wasn't anything special. The place itself was lacking in atmosphere and considering they were overstaffed for the number of diners, drinks didn't arrive until we had nearly finished our starters - it was almost as though everyone was trying to keep busy, but the communication between them wasn't so great so some things were getting missed.
