“Nice clean cabins and good breakfast”
Reviewed August 27, 2012

The Chewuch Inn is a lovely almost B&B environment with cabins just outside the main house. The area is very scenic and the cabins are extremely clean. The breakfast provided by the owners is well thought out and very tasty. We enjoyed scones everyday and an egg dish along with waffles, cereals, coffee and tea, hot oatmeal and more. I found ladies who were taking care of the front office in the evening incredibly hospitable and much more friendly and approachable than the owners though I did see many guests really engage with most of the staff. The showers have more water pressure than I have ever experienced in 45 years and I really loved it! The air conditioner is a bit loud in the cabins but that was the only real draw back to the small but neat and clean cabins. The deer in the area just outside the cabins are a bit on the friendly side which is initially confusing as I have never experienced such gentrified large animals but they mean know harm. The food in the town of Winthrop was not tasty and the "Saloon" in particular had just awful food and terrible service and should be avoided. I understand neighboring towns had pretty good food and in Winthrop defense one of the two nights we were there was Sunday when many places were closed. All and all a fun place to relax and clean hotel environments should not be over looked! Oh and tubing in August in Winthrop is more like walking on slippery rocks because the water is so low. The people at ? Run were fantastic and truly lovely but the level of water is harder if you are a bigger person and even the smallest occasionally had to rock themselves out of spots.

We stayed in one of the cabins which was really nice as it was detached. we were greated by the owner who gave us a tour.It is very dark at night both inside and outside so take a torch-you need one to find your way to the bathroom at night if you don't want to turn the lights on to wake everyone up. The breakfast in the morning was wonderful with freshly cooked items. I would stay here again

We reserved a cabin for two nights on our trip along the Cascade Loop. Not as remote as I would have liked. Could hear the traffic at night. Cabin was clean, bed comfortable and kitchenette very satisfactory. Coffee cream rather than powder would have been nice touch. Well appointed cabin, with consideration to the environment a real plus. Good get away from it all. Very nice breakfast in a cozy dining area. For hikers, it is best to consult the National Forest Service office for great hiking in the area though staff offer suggestions as well.

Room Tip: Romantic Cabin had good kitchen amenties...microwave, refrigerator, glassware.

My wife & I arrived Saturday afternoon after riding our motorcycles over the pass from the Seattle area to Winthrop. Made the reservation early in the morning we left. All the B&B's in Winthrop were full and we got lucky to find one at all. They usually require a 2 night minimum on weekends during the busy season. Checking in was qucik and easy. We stayed in the Aspen room which is in the lower level. Nice room that stays cool even with as hot as the weather was. Room has it's own bathroom (tub & shower), nice large flat screen, dvd, cd player, and overhead fan. Betty was eager to give us the "tour" but we needed to get to town before the stores close. So we passed on the tour. Returned later that evening and hit the hot tub. Very big hot tub! Found out the next morning they have a room off the deck and hot tub area with towels, shower, and restroom facilities!! (yep, should have taken the tour!) Breakfast on Sunday morning was very good & a beautiful dining room!!!. A 3 cheese pie was ready along with fruit, scones (scones are WOW), hot & cold cereal, juice, waffles... All very good. VERY clean & quiet B&B..!!! Very friendly proprietors! They did everything they could to make our stay a pleasant one. We would definitely go back... Tater, the watch dog and really easy going but is very laid back and shy... now the cat on the other hand was about as friendly as they get! Don't hesitate in booking with the Chewuch B&B..! This B&B is within walking distance of town easily...

Absolutely great place to stay. We were there with friends in both July and August of 2012. Winthrop is a pleasant small town to visit and the Chewuch is the place to stay. Very nice rooms and the breakfast is excellent. Gorgeous scenery. Very nice hot tub. Visit the Methow Valley Airport to see the home of the North Cascades Smoke Jumpers.

Room Tip: Cabins are nice but the newly remodeled rooms are extra comfortable. All the rooms are excellent.

Decided to roundup our Summer by taking a much needed break from the hustle of the greater Eastside/Puget Sound to Winthrop. Perfect drive time for our family of three, the Cascade Loop is well worth the fuel and energy for a quick get away (within 4 hours) went from clouds/cool climate to the warmest sunshine without a cloud in the sky and grand space to breathe! Arrived in latter afternoon, greeted warmly by the hostess and checked into our reserved Cabin 11. Perfect fit for our small family of 3 (2 adults and 1 school age child). The cabin was clean, comfortable, modern design, yet warm-just the right balance. Loved having the privacy, yet convenience of being able to walk to town. Enjoyed opening our windows - listening to the crickets at night, (we used the air conditioner intermittently on purpose!) Also appreciated having the little fridge for restaurant leftovers and desserts/snacks. Our daughter enjoyed having her own little sofa/bed and we were more than comfortable on the queen bed.
As for improvements few if any, we would suggest that the owners consider serving up at least two entrees (quiches go fast, despite if you get to breakfast on time or not) and little fingers need to be closely supervised at the breakfast buffet if you are going to allow families with young children under the age of 5 at the Inn/B&B. Would highly encourage that you please raise the age limit of children for the comfort of all guests, it's not very relaxing for anyone if you see or hear small infants/tots under foot or pushing their food full speed across a nearby table! We enjoyed the owners, friendly and accommodating. Plan to recommend the Chewuch Inn and Cabins to others.

Room Tip: If using the hot tub just know and gently remind the owners they need to maintain/skim the hot tub m...

This place has a great location, on Sun Mountain road, the staff there were quite helpful, as even though I locked myself out of our room twice the gal just laughed. The cabins are smallwer, but just fine. They do need to expand on their Direct TV package, but hey, you don't go to the high Cascades to watch the tube anyway! I would go back, if I could..... forever!

Room Tip: Get cabin 9 if possible, it is right next to a little creek, and away from the road.
