I stayed at the Winthrop Inn for three days on a mountain biking trip. (There are some fine trails in the mountains surrounding Winthrop and Twist.) Conditions were challenging because of the forest fires that were raging throughout central Washington and Oregon—the air was filled with smoke. Nevertheless, the inn was comfortable and pleasant. My room was clean and had a little balcony. "Breakfast" isn't worthy of the name, however—it consisted of some muffins and a choice of tea or coffee, and you have to take it back to your room. It goes without saying that there's no adjoining restaurant, as Winthrop's restaurant selection is dismal. Breakfast in town at a sit-down restaurant commands prices that might raise the eyebrows of people visiting from New York City. I ended up going to the supermarket in Twisp and picking up food for meals. The deli there is good and the cheese selection is remarkable: there's a distributor who comes in from Seattle and brings some remarkably good cheeses, like a fabulous Tomme de Crayeuse from France and a São Jorge from the Azores.

My wife and I stayed at Winthrop Inn on oct. 14th, 2012. The staff was excellent- and motel was close to town but quiet and such pretty surroundings. They are the only motel that offers muffins or any food in the morning and do not charge for extra person. We actually have stayed at motel with our work crew several times and it is our favorite since we have tried several over the years. I enjoy the hottub and picnic area where you can visit away from the motel windows. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WlQ6_-eon8Y&feature=g-all-u

The western village of Winthrop is nice and picturesque and the Winthrop Inn fits right with it. It is located about a mile from the city center on a beautiful location.
The hotel is well maintained and there is a pool and hot tubs. Our room was neatly furnished and clean, cozy but not very luxurious. However it has a fridge and microwave. The breakfast is absolute minimal and consists only of coffee and muffins. The front desk woman was friendly and helpful.
When we arrived there were many old-timer cars that gives the Winthrop Inn an old-fashioned sight

We were on a motorcycle trip and stopped for the night. Rooms are large and spotlessly clean.Would have liked a bath tub but the large clean shower sufficed. We also woke up to a beautiful hot air balloon being inflated and one in our group went for a ride in the cool clear morning. $210 for 1 hour. The hotel also features a hot tub which was very clean, an outdoor pool and barbeque facilities. It was quiet and very reasonably priced.

Stopped here after a long....t rip from Washington coast. This was a nice stop. Pulled in with just an agenda of a place to sleep. They supplied me with a wine opener and a close room for a bathroom. too late for swimming pool 58 degree weather. outside was two bar barbeque sites. that we could have used. The rom was rather Adequate with a single bed with a small refrigerator and a microwave. There was television access and WiFi, these were most welcome after The North Cascades Highway. Check in was simple and they gave me a wine opener to use,

when asked about restaurants in the area, they pointed me to the scrapbook they had in the front area with menus. this was a most welcome place to stay.

Stayed here because every where else was sold out- lucky for us. Our room was very large and immaculate. The staff was very nice and gave us excellent recommendations for restaurants. The bonus was waking up to a colorful hot air balloon launching right outside our balcony! For a chance to enjoy that, ask for a room on the river side (which overlooks strip where another company offers the balloon rides). For the reasonable price of the room, this was an excellent choice.

Nice place; nice people. The room was fairly good sized, even if the floor plan was a bit unconventional. Fridge, microwave, a blazing heat lamp in the bathroom. The hot tub & pool are good, even though late September isn't the best time of year to take advantage. The BBQ grills are a nice touch - wish I'd had time to slow down and enjoy them. Super friendly and accomodating check-in. The muffins are good if you catch them early enough, but unless you prefer very mild coffee, grab a cup at the little drive-though Pony Expresso next door. We stayed four nights, working night shift, and not a single time did a maid knock on the door when the Do Not Disturb sign was up. Heaven! I can't thank them enough for that simple but oh-so-prescious courtesy. If I ever came through for a pleasure trip I'd love to stay again, slowing down long enough to smell the roses.

Room Tip: The road noise wasn't unbearable on the road side, but if you're a light sleeper you might c...
