By the time that we arrived, it seemed that the shops were closed so we decided to go up the mountain as the owner of the lodge suggested. Beautiful place overlooking the valley. They let us walk around the lodge, it was breath taking and the people were very friendly. The woman that works in the gift shop was such a delight.

The buffet brunch was an embarassment of riches. Such choices! The food was delicious and the service was stellar; friendly but not obsequious. Be sure to tour the grounds inside & out, it's a world class hotel. The view's not bad either.

Saturday night dinner had highly mixed quality. First, the location, service and wines were excellent. The lamb shanks were very good but it was downhill from there. The caeser salad was 2 small heads of romaine with a little dressing poured on top. I guess the dressing was bottled. It wasn't anything Caeser would remember. The trout was ok only. With entree prices of $35 and up the quality should be levels above. Hopefully with enough complaints the management will hire a qualified chef.

Thank you for your review and kind comments about our location, wines and service. I aplogize the salad and trout were not up our usual high standards. The Caeser Salad is made from crisp hearts of romaine and the dressing is made in house using Extra Virgin Olive Oil and parmesiano reggiano, served with parmesan cuff and top quality boccoronis (white anchovies). I don't recall having any prior problems, but we have reviewed our preparation with the evening kitchen crew. The fish was Columbia River fat fish. The fish is a wee bit different from other trout in that it is a deep red, high quality fish with a higher fat content - caught that weekend. It was served with Jasmine rice, spinach and mushrooms with a saffron butter sauce and sweet tomate ragout. We believed with richness of the trout it would not too much sauce so the flavors of the fish would come through. Looks like in this instance we must have been a bit shy. I did not think it worth firing the chef over and hope you will change your stance on this and one day return and enjoy our locally produced and organic foods!

Well prepared, some local and organic. House prepared and it tastes fresh.

We loved the views from the balcony. The desk staff are super helpful, flexible, and want you satisfied. They have some of the best Nordic (skate and classic) grooming in the country.
