I stopped at this hotel with a tour group for a night and did not want to leave. The room was huge, decorated in a Western motif (natural for Winthrop), bed was heavenly, micro and fridge, everything you could want. But what made the hotel unique was that it is located on the river bank, every room has a balcony or patio, plus chairs placed on the lawn along the river. Although it was late July, temperature was in low 70s and at night it was cool enough to open the window and listen to the rushing water all night. Early in the morning you can see deer come down to the river. The hotel is next to the downtown (all 4 blocks), across from the Shafer Museum (a must see). Staff very friendly and helpful. When in Winthrop, stay here.

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Rio Vista when hiking the Cascades on the east side of the mountains and were very impressed. Very nice room with balcony view of river and right in town. The staff was very helpful. I would highly recommend a stay here!

Stayed 2 week nights in late June 2011. Pluses: balcony view, comfortable beds, clean room, hot tub, walkable to town, free wi-fi. Minuses: a tad pricey, no breakfast, no lobby,

Really enjoyed being on the river. The hotel is in town and close to everything, but you feel more nature than city in your room with the river running so close. The front desk people were helpful and friendly. Parking was easy and close to the room. The room was nicely decorated with a western theme and had a balcony to sit and watch the river, trees, and hills. Definitely a good place to stay--and will return.

The Hotel Rio Vista is perfectly located along side the Metho River in Downtown Winthrop which is itself in the heart of the Metho Valley. Our room was big, nicely appointed, and the Balcony view over looking the river was worth the price of the room. The room was quiet ,relaxing, and comfortable, and the perfect launch pad for our end of winter snowshoeing and hiking.
The Hotel is located so everything in town is just a few blocks walk. People are friendly, welcoming, and we had a very pleasant two night stay. Looking forward to our next visit.

This hotel is set on the riverbank overlooking the river and the beautiful valley. The rooms are decorated in a rustic western theme with very comfy beds and linens. The cable was out during our stay, but we just spent more time together. Service was great.

This is one of our usual places to stay in Winthrop, whether we're there for winter or summer. The rooms are very clean, big, nice bathrooms, granite counters, all rooms have river views. I would recommend any room other than the ones on the street level. The street level rooms are within a few yards of the parking lot, which can get very full and noisy. The location can't get better. It's right in town - you step out your door and within a few yards of the first shop/cafe/restaurant. Summers it can get pretty noisy due to the street traffic, but that noise tends to die down after 9 pm. Winters are super quiet and less crowded. The hot tub is not very clean. We changed our minds after seeing scum on the service of the water. The staff is friendly and the price affordable for location and room size. Go in the off season (beginning Oct) to bypass the heavy tourism. Good place to stay with kids since everything is within walking distance and the river is right behind the hotel.
