“Better than Hood River..”
Reviewed October 2, 2013

After spending our first night in an overpriced hotel in Hood River whe decided to pack up and move across the river to White Salmon. Good choice we made! Hotel is a little old, but clean and beds are new I think. We sat in the nice garden in the back for a while. Our room had great views of Mt Hood (don't get that in Hood River!). Nice atmopshere in the hotel. White Salmon is very small, but has a good restaurant an a brewpub (closed when we were there though).
Only drawback when staying here instead of Hood River; not as easy to visit the brewpubs there (go to double mountain!). But would def. stay again!

This original old hotel has been upgraded in a neat and simple way, but still retains the features of its antiquity.
With sustainability and environmental stewardship in mind, the hotel manages to achieve responsible management without sacrificing comforts: i adored the big porcelain bathtub ( built in not claw foot) and the real tile which was immaculately clean. As a former Radisson Housekeeping supervisor, i notice the details and this inn gets A+. The staff was courteous and pleasant. One caution: i was on the ground floor and sometime during the night the upstairs guest came in, the old building echoed every movement, did not bother me, but might someone else.
Overall, great place for a stay in White Salmon~ check out hostel accommodations for budget minded.

Room Tip: Ask for second floor.

Hotel was clean and modern. The staff (we only met one employee) was accommodating and very friendly. We only stayed after a wedding in Hood River, and enjoyed the White Salmon atmosphere better than Hood River.

My wife and I stumbled upon White Salmon a few years ago and ended up staying at the White Salmon Inn instead of camping. What a great choice! The White Salmon Inn is a unique, modern hotel and the family that runs it is very nice. They provide discounts to local restaurants and businesses. My wife and I have been back a few times for a quick get-away. Recently a group of guy friends stayed in Hostel Room for a night, it was perfect for us!

we stayed in room 215 at the back of the hotel...it has not been renovated/modernized. Stayed on a weekday and rates were considerably less than weekend. a nice little "suite" with good bed, nice and clean, very quiet during our stay. other rooms are more "modern". very good coffee in the "commons" room. nice staff. very good value. if you stay here...go down to everybody's brewery/restaurant and enjoy downtown white salmon.

Room Tip: rooms vary. ask about the decor. we liked room 215 in the back for its "original" decor a...

The warm welcome by the owner's son and the thoughtful attention to details in both the bedroom and common areas makes this a good base for exploring the Gorge and Mt Hood areas. The room itself was efficient and super clean; the bathroom/shower small yet with tall ceilings. Our room overlooked the garden; others main street--don't believe any have views of the gorge or mountains.

We were one of several cyclists staying there and enjoyed spending our breakfast vouchers at the nearby 10 Speed coffee shop. The town is far less bustling than its sister city of Hood River, so unless you are using this as a base to explore the incredible surrounding wilderness a night or two is enough.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. Your honest opinion will help others plan their trip and find out more information about the area. We hope you enjoyed your view of the garden side of the Hotel. The garden side of the Hotel is a guest favorite. When the Summer's heat hits the Hood River/Columbia Gorge, the back side of our Hotel is in the shade. We hope you return to stay again some time soon. Next time we hope you get to enjoy the other side of the Hotel with view of Mt. Hood from your room. Ask for Room 201 its another guest favorite.

We stayed here on speck, as the place we were supposed to be staying was a major let down, so just found this because it was the first place we hit after leaving the other place. It was ok, nothing special really, clean, comfy and not too pricey.
