If you are ever in the Seattle area, this is a must visit winery, that offers more than just tours and a tasting room. The back drop is a French style Chateau, which not only houses the tasting room, but also offers a souvenir gift shop, a small food facility to accompany any wines that you are sampling. In addition the grounds of this winery offer the ability to pack a picnic lunch and just sit under the trees if you like to pass an afternoon outdoors. The place welcomes families, and youngsters can visit the sampling room and get a non-alcoholic beverage. On weekends during the summer there are outdoor concerts held, with big name groups performing. Tickets however are required for the shows, and must be purchased in advance of the concert. A visit to their web site will provide the dates and names of groups appearing. There is ample parking available on site and admission is free. The only costs encountered are if you are sampling or purchasing wines. Great way to spend a few hours with family or friends.

With relatives visiting from the East Coast, we decided to visit Whidbey Island. Whidbey Island Vineyards and Winery was our first stop that day. The wines are very good, especially the Madeleine Angevine.
There are picnic tables and bistro tables to bring along snacks while you sip your wine.
The staff is very nice and professional.

Deserves a visit for just being the first winery on the island, but also for the award winning wines. Very friendly service. Left with two bottles.

This was my first stop while visiting the island. We were greeted by a very lovely lady who told us so much about her wines, their grapes, their vineyard and the island.

While on Whidbey Island, we visited no less than SIX wineries. What a surprise!

Whidbey Island was one of our favorites for many reasons. First, the host and hostess were so much fun and provided us a great education on the local grapes and wine making process.

We happened to time our visit with the harvest of the grapes. Many volunteers were present, enjoying an amazing lunch and some wine - of course.

We had our tasting and enjoyed all of the wines, but found ourselves drawn to the local wine - SIEGERREBE. If you're a white lover, try it!

We also lucked out and discovered many of the recently harvested grapes were sitting in preparation for the wine making. If you review the pictures, you'll see many candid moments - just prior to the grapes making their journey to being wine. Enjoy!
