“Nice but poorly run”
Reviewed August 4, 2014 via mobile

Spent the weekend with family for our nieces wedding. The facility is very nice, rooms are clean. We did have a problem with the elevator and we were stuck for 20 mins while the local fire dept opened the elevator door. Staff did not hear the alarm and did not seem to care that the event had happened. Our 2 bedroom suite at $300+ per night was not cleaned during our 2 day stay, no effort was made to accommodate our schedules. It didn't seem like any management was available. The front desk does not answer the telephone, we had to keep calling just to set up the reservations, well it wasn't any better when we were there. They actually told one of us that they don't answer the phone when they are busy.
The hotel is beautiful and I would stay again, I think the new management needs to get their act together soon.

A place that looks dated most often gets a drive by. Don't drive by this one! Very clean very comfortable and quiet! Great in every way, If you have time to go to the ocean it's not far. You can relax outside while enjoying a secure area

Stayed two nights here while we went salmon fishing one day on a charter boat. The hotel is a bit old but the room was fabulous. It was clean and comfortable and the pool was great! The breakfast was wonderful as well. A little side tip is that you can also let the front desk know when you check in if you have a fishing trip planned and they'll leave out a "Fisherman's Breakfast" which consists of yogurts, bagels, and muffins.

My husband and I booked a couple of nights at Chateau Westport in a studio kitchenette unit to escape a heat wave and were pleasantly surprised. There is no bed, just a pull out couch that I thought looked dubious--but it was the most comfortable hide-a-bed I have ever slept on! It was more comfortable than most hotel beds. The management appears to have been upgrading bits and pieces of the property. There was a swanky glass top two burner stove top amidst the out dated decor. My suggestion is that the next upgrade go to sound proofing the connector doors. We were in between two elderly couples that yelled at each other and could hear every word. Also, we were overlooking the fire pits that loud groups tended to congregate in front of. It's a shame there is a parking lot on the ocean side of the property; I really wrecked my zen. The staff are insanely helpful and friendly. But don't forget anything, Westport really doesn't have a grocery store and it's a half hour back to Aberdeen.

Room Tip: Don't fear the hide a bed!

This hotel has a lot going for it: breakfast, pool, exercise room, ocean view, decent price, great staff..... But, it is quite old and has not been maintained. Old dirty carpets in halls, chipped paint in areas, many minor defects which have just gone unattended. It gave me the feeling of being in a low-grade hotel. If only a contractor could walk thru and do some repairs, it would increase its desirability, greatly.

Room Tip: Best ocean views are on the 3rd and 4th floors.

We usually ask for an upper floor room when we arrive but unfortunately for us the hotel was completely booked so were given a room on the first floor. The room did have a patio with chairs, looking at the parking lot. You could see the dunes on the other side which was nice but you could not see the ocean. Would recommend a room on the top floor for best views. Hotel is older and some of the wear shows. Overall for nostalgia probably a nice place for families to stay. If you do stay on the first floor I recommend bringing your luggage in through the patio door to your room.

Room Tip: Upper floor for view and request this when booking.

This property is a great value...the ocean view rooms provide a very nice view of the nearby ocean...an easy stroll to the beach. These rooms overlook a park-like setting that includes deer meandering across the lawns.
Our room was spotless, and included an in-room one-cup Keurig coffee maker...a nice touch. The complimentary breakfast room was large, sunny, and had very nice views on the in-land side landscapes.

The breakfast provided hot and cold cereals, hard-boiled eggs, fruit, rolls and other breads/pastries, and waffle making machines...everything was clean and nice.
Coffee, tea, fruit juices, milk, and hot chocolate were all available.

The staff was, to a person, friendly and cheerful and very welcoming. Just a nice place to visit on your journey to this part of the coast.

The room was a bit on the small side, but was fine for our purposes...it had a refrigerator and microwave as well as the coffee maker.

We would happily stay here again when in the area.

Room Tip: Ocean side rooms on the upper floors really do provide a nice view of the ocean.
