Owner description: A scenic garden with stone walkways and spectacular mountain views and water features. The gardens were started in 1929 by Herman and Ruth Ohme and first open to the public in 1939. Enjoy a refreshing respite at this amazing evergreen oasis in the heart of Washington State. Nearly a mile of natural stone pathways traverses the hillside gardens, ushering you past breathtaking panoramic views, towering cedars and firs, lush foliage, mesmerizing waterfalls and tranquil pools. Stone benches located throughout the grounds provide ample opportunities to savor the beauty of Ohme Gardens. The average time to tour the Gardens is one hour. Visitors come back time and time again to view the ever changing vegetation in the gardens.

An oasis of alpine beauty sitting high above the Wenatchee dessert! This is a great spot to spend an afternoon catching up with friends as you meander the paths between lush green madows, beautiful ponds and shaded lookouts.

My in-laws have been going to this place for years and we continue to go whenever we are in the area.. Such a beautiful place where you least expect to find it! We took several generations on this visit and there was something for everyone. The beautiful flowers, bushes, rocks and water features throughout this garden are just amazing. You can sit by a cool pool in the shade or on top of a hill that overlooks Wenatchee. There are so many benches that you can stop and have a seat on with great views in every direction!

I was very impressed with the intricacies of this place. Everything was so thoughtfully done. Very peaceful. They were setting up for a wedding which was beautiful. There were beautiful views of the mountains...and the roofs of all the industrial buildings below. That was really the only turn off, that and all the sprinklers attatched to the tops of rocks. I understand things have to be watered but they could have tried a little harder to hide it.

Other then that, this was a very nice place to spend an afternoon and take great pictures!

Ohme (Oh-me) Gardens is a pretty amazing place. Don't come expecting lush floral displays or cascading waterfalls but do expect a unique landscape of stones, pathways, and fields with sweeping views of the valley below. The gardens reminded me of a labyrinth with pathways leading all over the garden.

I agree that the garden isn't as breathtaking first off as some other gardens may be but considering the history and the work involved with the vision and creation of the gardens they are truly amazing.

A husband and wife created the garden on their private land decades ago to emulate alpine meadows. They had stones hauled up and performed back breaking labor to make the gardens. Before they came along the hill was just any other dry hill with not much vegetation. Definitely look into the history of the garden as it will enrich your appreciation of your visit.

The gardens are extremely well manicured and peaceful. There is a wishing well and several tranquil pools dotting the gardens. There are several stone benches fashioned into the side of the hill.

Ohme Gardens is an ideal destination for a photographer. There was a wedding ceremony going on when were were there and it looked like a beautiful setting for a wedding. Great photo opportunities, too!

I'd recommend Ohme for sure. The steps are not ideal for little kids who might have a hard time walking on the rocks and also not for older people or anyone who isn't completely agile.
