Red Lion Hotel Wenatchee

The basics: Large hotel with more than 150 rooms. Three levels, but you enter on the second floor since it is built on a hillside. Most of the rooms face out to the courtyard / pool area. The conference facility is on the other side of the courtyard. There is an elevator.

We arrived mid-week at 1 PM with 4 cars in the parking lot. They did not have rooms ready for our party which seemed strange as there was NO activity at the hotel. We were able to check-in at 4 PM.

The room was large and comfortable. The bathroom and vanity areas were spacious. Closet space was good. Floors and carpet was clean. Bedding was clean and comfortable. HVAC was easily controlled. Curtains are room darkening. Windows were clean. Iron, ironing board, refrigerator and microwave were present in the room.

The furniture was a bit banged up. The TV was an old analog set (no flat screen), complete with some snowy channels.

Internet service was slow.

A self service buffet was available for breakfast. It had some breads, cereal, scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon, limited fruit (pineapple) and beverages. The attendant was less than interested in assisting us, other than just pointing in the general direction when we asked what we were to do. No welcome or anything. She was also confused in handling the charges, so it took us a while to leave.

Other dining choices are close, including the Buzz Inn across the street.

This is not a bad place. It's clean and comfortable. I'd stay again if my first choice in the area is not available.

The staff seemed burdened by assisting in your check in/out. The televisions are so old in the rooms that my daughter was unable to hook up either her DVD player or XBOX. When we called the front counter the girl laughed and said " Yeah our TV's are too old". With a beautiful snowy scene going out outside our view was of a wall of another building. The cafe was closed but the lounge was open and they served food. The employee was unable to make drinks customers were ordering and was unable to find food items on the register as customers came to the bar to order. They grew tired of waiting at their tables. Obviously she was overwhelmed. This was a winter stay with an empty parking lot. No more than 10 people in the lounge. I would not stay here again for the money I paid.

The Red Lion Hotel is a little dated, but it's not like it's striaght out of 1974 or anything. The rooms were large, clean and comfortable. The staff were very helpful and check in/out was a breeze. Great price on their rooms also. Would definatley stay here again.

The hotel looks a bit old and dated. The staff is nice and works hard to be accomidating. If you room on the back side of the hotel the train noise is very loud in the middle of the night. Our mattress was very uncomfortable.

While this hotel needs a bit of freshening up (like the bed comforter and the TV), the staff more than makes up for this deficiency. Friendly and VERY helpful. They made my stay so much easier! I was having to catch the westbound Amtrak in the morning that was running behind schedule. The staff kept me updated on my shuttle departure time to the train which was very much appreciated. The hotel also provides shuttle service to and from Pangborn airport.

There is a lounge in the hotel that I used for dinner. Food was not bad at all. The small breakfast buffet the next morning in the cafe was okay, too.

Although my bed comforter was showing signs of age, the bed itself was comfortable.

I would stay here again based on the staff alone.

I have always liked any Red Lion that I have stayed at -- this particular stay -- I got a great price on Priceline at $55. My husband & I were in town for a death in the family. The hotel is old and the lobby could use some new furniture and the ancient TV in our room needs to be replaced with a flat screen along with some remodeling. However, you can't beat the Happy Hour in the Lounge with inexpensive drinks and free chips and salsa (you get a coupon when you check in!) The room was a lot smaller than I expected. When we checked in -- I asked if we could get a reduced rate for at least 7 rooms for the following weekend for the funeral. The clerk left and came back and said we needed to book 10+ rooms. That is so sad -- I would think you would want to fill up rooms no matter what -- we all ended going down the street to the Best Western Chieftan Inn for a GREAT deal which included breakfast.

Room Tip: Book a room on the north side if you need an elevator.

The hotel room is clean and tidy. Came in a Group Tour and yet the breakfast served was great with lots of food displayed at counter for everyone! Would likely recommend to anyone visiting Watnachee!!
