“"A Wonderful Find"”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 7, 2014

My husband & I came upon this hotel passing through Waterville on our way to Seattle. We were really impressed by the charm & character it offered. We loved the antique furnishings & the peaceful atmosphere. It was nice to relax on the porch after a long drive that day, and Dave & Amy were exceptional hosts. They suggested a great restaurant for dinner which was also 'a wonderful find'. We would love to return sometime if we are in Washington again..

A charming, relaxing, quiet place to be. The rooms are quaintly furnished with no 2 alike. This was our second visit to the hotel, the first time we met a couple who have become good friends. The second time was a celebration with four couples, each was very pleased with the hotel, with Dave and Amy, the charm, the history and the Harvest House restaurant. The restaurant works closely with Dave (open Thursday, Friday and Saturday) to see that the guests are served an exquisite dinner in a great setting. We were there on a Monday and Dave arranged with the restaurant owner- Keith to open and John, the chef to service us a grand meal with good wine. We will definitely return to this unique hotel with the big porch, morning coffee and fresh scones

Room Tip: Even though the hotel is on highway 2 we did not find the traffic noise disturbing.

I had the most wonderful stay at the Waterville Historic Hotel this week. While it is usually closed at this time of year (November), Dave and Amy had two apartments available at a reduced rate. What good fortune that turned out to be for me. I enjoyed a relaxed and very comfortable stay, was treated with exceptional hospitality and made some new friends. I couldn't have asked for more and plan to return soon as I have business in the area. I really feel like I found a home away from home.

We stayed there in September, on our way back from taking the ferry at Lake Chelan. This is a fun hotel, if you are into historic hotels (the rooms have soul - they are all unique and don't have TV, there's no swimming pool, etc). There are a lot of interesting antiques in the building, and the rooms have been finished with care and taste. The owner is the kind of guy who is initially quiet, and you might feel somewhat put-off, but once he warms up to you, he can be a font of information. He also has a lot of knowledge about the area if you need help planning sight-seeing or meals. However, as a previous reviewer has noted, don't show up expecting to tour the hotel if you just want to use the restroom (and not stay there). Its a mom & pop business in a very small town, and there's no coffee shop or public restrooms in the building. The town has some nice old brick buildings and a lot of potential - its the kind of place where you could see artists moving in and repopulating the commercial buildings along the main street.

Room Tip: Call and talk with the owner

My wife and I made reservations for September 6th 2013. We arrived and were greeted by the most unfriendly, uninviting and rude individual i have ever dealt with in the hotel industry; Dave Lundgren the proprietor of this hotel. I walked in and said, "Hello we have a reservation", he blankly stared at my self and my wife and the then cynically stated, " A name would be a good place to start" We looked at each other and continued to try to have a conversation with him. His answers were very short , dry, abrasive and condescending. When we asked why he was like this he was very rude and defensive. He made us feel so uncomfortable we told him we were not going to stay and we were going to review this hotel, he then became very agitated and followed outside, yelling at us. telling us he would put us out of our business if we give him a bad review. This man does not belong in customer service. We went to Whenatchee just down the road and stayed.

Dave the owner is very knowledgeable about the hotel and its contents - great collector. Scones from the local bakery, Blue Rooster, for breakfast. Very comfy bed. Great soak in the clawfoot tub. Library with old magazines and books to browse. We didn't have much time to hang out - we were on our way home - but would be a relaxing place to spend the weekend.

RIght on HIstoric HIghway #2- a true national treasure, we chanced upon the Waterville Hotel to dry out from a wet camping spot. It was just what we wanted: welcoming, comfortable, unusual and interesting. We enjoyed the roses and sunny porch for scones and coffee. Thank you, Dave!

Room Tip: Reserve ahead for en suite bath.
