If you're in the Tacoma area Chambers Bay is a must see even for those that don't play golf. The golf course is one-of-a-kind, but there are many reviews on the web to decide for yourself. If you're not a golfer, its a great place to come and play. With two large grassy parks and a playground for kids, there is something for everyone. The walking trail that circles the park, and winds through the golf course is about 3 1/2 miles long and a great workout. Stop by the restaurant afterwards and try the nachos!

I really enjoyed the golf experience at Chambers Bay. To begin with, the views are exceptional, the course was in excellent shape, the caddy was outstanding and the golf was awesome. Part of my intent was to learn how to play a large, scottish links course prior to actually traveling to Scotland. The caddy had a wealth of knowledge that he was more than willing to share, which allowed me the opportunity to learn how to play this style of course (thank you Matt). I found the course very challenging but not the toughest I have played. I would recommend taking a caddy unless you are very familiar with the course or this style of golf. He made the whole experience that much better. I highly recommend this course and if possible, utilize a caddy. The staff was exceptional as was the practice facility.

Played a round of golf here on a sunny and breezy day. One of the best courses in Western Washington. Very hilly and no carts allowed, so consider your fitness level before you set out. Really nice driving range. Wonderful views and a special treat. My wife and her friend enjoyed the park and we all met up for dinner in the restaurant. A great time was had by all.

How many chances do you get to play a US Open venue? Even for an out-of-town golfer, such an opportunity for under $200 is pretty special.

Course is very hilly and if you want to have a chance at a decent score probably best to take a caddie as they can help with club selection. aim and reading long putts (of which one will undoubtedly have many). Very little distinction between tightly-mowed fairways and the greens - you can putt from 50 yards away from the green if you choose to. Course has a real Scottish look to it but really does not have a lot of places where the rough is so deep it swallows golf balls - lots of waste areas with hummocks and tufts where recovery should be to the nearest patch of fairway as opposed to trying to reach a green or significantly advance the ball.

All-in-all a fun day if you can handle a lot of up and down walking and can keep the ball somewhat in play.
