Played a surprise on my wife for her 50th over the hill birthday. Have been here befor for the restaurant and it is quite nice. Booked a room overlooking the court yard and was very satisfied. Stafff noted about the birthday and always offered a compliment! To say the least she was impressed which went over very well . Beautiful grounds, very well maintained, fabulous food. Highly recommend. Too bad a rich guy with a float plane didn’t show up for dinner (which happens this time of year). Quite a lot of $$. Not to be missed though. Would recommend the least expensive room to check it out, might not be everybodies cup of tea. Very relaxing, again beautiful grounds to walk around and a real well known golf coarse is there too!

Room tip: Room was very quite. We were on the 2nd floor. Ours had a small accommodating porch with 2 chairs.

Situated at the south end of the Hood Canal, this place is literally a breath of fresh air. Meant as an escape from the noise and bustle of city living, the resort was built in 1913 and has retained its charming character for over a century. Adirondack chairs dot the lawn overlooking the water, just beyond the outdoor fire pit, cascading waterfall, and lush gardens. A large dock accommodates those boating in, as well as the resort's own Lady Alderbrook which is available for large groups who wish to cruise. Guests may also rent any number of human powered watercraft to enjoy the calm, protected waters of the canal. The hotel lobby boasts a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace where you can often find one of the house cats sleeping peacefully on a comfy couch. The decor is inspired by the beauty of the natural surroundings, with huge windows, plank flooring, and a wooden canoe hanging from large log beams, beckoning you to relax and let the pressures of daily life fade away. Meandering pathways lead to a detached glass house where you can swim (or enjoy the hot tub) just steps from the water, with the tranquil feel of an infinity pool. Guest rooms are tastefully decorated with the same themes of nature, and come complete with sketch pads, skipping stones, and other amenities chosen to help guests make the transition from their working lives into vacation time. Every aspect of the Alderbrook experience is done with such thoughtfulness that guests can't wait to return!

Had the best time staying at Marina at Alder brook!
Service is spectacular, and employees go out of their way to make your stay amazing!

Jordan and Russel went to extremes to help us, and their time is appreciated. We will be back!

While Alderbrook is a bit dated, it's still a remarkable waterfront property that offers great accommodations with hotel rooms and cottages. I was in Cottage 11 at the top of cottage row near the parking area with a view of Hood Canal. Beds are comfortable and plentiful resources in the cottages for a long stay. The clam chowder at Alderbrook is exceptional (had it again for lunch on my own), and the banquet food (all my other meals) were good enough for banquet fare (I eat lots of this type of food during the year and it has to really stand out to make me get excited). Staff at Alderbrook, from doorman to front desk personnel, waiters/bartenders to housekeeping staff, are all very pleasant and helpful.

Room tip: Two-bedroom cottages (and larger ones) are great for family or multiple person stay.

Having reviewed for Trip Advisor for three years, I’d have to say, Alderbrook left me with one of the most favorable impressions! I’d researched and found the spa to be one of the ten best in Washington. It’s the best I’ve found. Spa treatments and facilities are lovely. Ask for Joy for an amazing massage. Be sure to enjoy the relaxing, steam and sauna rooms and the pool solarium and jacuzzi. Guaranteed peace and relaxation.

The lobby and front desk staff, Ray, John, Stacey are very inviting. The high ceilings, fire and leather sofas and furnishings are welcoming. So are the two lobby cats “Alder” and “Brook”. Look for them. Apples papers and water are available.

I enjoyed a brookside room on the third floor with wonderful views of the Hood Canal, the only fjord in America and Olympic Mountains beyond. In room, I loved the decor, the chairs at the end of the bed, the pull out drawer vanity, Koehler overscaled tub and honor bar. I loved receiving a sketchbook and pencil to capture and remember the incredible experience.

You can order room service. And be sure to try the dining room for breakfast lunch or dinner. That’s another whole great review.

I most highly recommend Alderbrook. I’m sure you will love it and it’s elegant management.
