Methow Suites Bed and Breakfast
Ranked #2 of 5 Twisp B&B and Inns
Reviewed June 24, 2012

We had the pleasure of a 3-night stay at Methow Suites B&B. This was also our first trip to the valley. The name Methow Suites seemed odd at first hearing it as Twisp is a small community nestled in the valley's ranches, farms and mountains. Upon arrival, we were greeted by owners and residents Sandy and Bill. From that moment on, they were the best hosts that anyone could ask for. Our room with separate entrance, with private bath was well equipped including robes. We were given all the comforts of home with the use of a separate dining area, large comfortable sitting room to reminisce experiences of the day, both with windows providing a majestic view of the valley. Each morning we awoke to the aroma of baking and other treats that were a delight to start our day. Each day was a different and varied serving of delicious foods, many items originating from their garden. The evenings brought other surprises -- home baked treats with tea and coffee ready to enjoy whenever we wanted them. Getting to know Sandy and Bill made the experience equally gratifying. Long time residents of the valley, they knew just where to send us that suited our dining and hiking desires. Their own stories were both fascinating and a joy to hear. Above all Sandy and Bill run a tight ship and cater to the needs of their guests. As far as the name Suites go, it couldn't be more appropriate. With only one other room in the house for hire, guests receive the full attention of friendly, knowledgeable and warm owners, highly invested in ensuring your stay is a pleasurably experience in the valley.

We enjoyed our three day stay at Methow Suites. Both Sandy and Bill shared friendships of people we knew from past years that made our stay very special. They accommodated our breakfast needs according to our special needs, something that is difficult at a restaurant. Being handicapped, the shower was perfect for me because I was able to get in and out.

Room Tip: Room next to back yard provides view of wildlife, especially birds.

We had a very nice stay at Methow Suites. Sandy & Bill are the most caring people that want you to have the best stay ever. The breakfast was well prepared and had food from local people. That included farm fresh eggs, locally made sausage and home made jam. What a delight.

This is the way to vacation! Spending time at Methow Suites was a perfect getaway for us...wonderful breakfast hours with great conversation with Bill and Sandy our hosts plus delicious food made from local produce and their own garden. We were provided with information for great hikes, fun shops to visit and some of the most beautiful scenery in the Methow Valley! The room was clean and we made use of our personal balcony to have morning coffee, read and watch the sun rise each morning. What a treat...we hope to make a return visit!

Room Tip: All rooms have great views...

Great breakfasts, spotless rooms and good company. A wonderful way to spend 2 days. Bill and Sandy know all the local news and are very helpful with finding what we wanted to see.

Room Tip: The room we stayed in had a view of the valley.

The Methow Suites came very highly recommended. After spending 5 nights there, we were not disappointed as Sandy and Bill lived up to their reputation of providing an absolutely wonderful place to stay. The accommodations were very peaceful, clean, and elegant and Sandy and Bill are warm friendly people who respected our space. It was exciting to get up in the mornings to a view of the Methow Valley and deer roaming around in the yard. Sandy provided a delicious breakfast each morning with the portions so large, we always left food on the table. With over four decades of living in the Methow Valley, Sandy and Bill were able to answer all our questions about the sites, shopping, and the history of the area. We went to Twisp to visit our new granddaughter and I am sure we will be returning to Charlottesville often. When we do, we will be staying with Sandy and Bill.

We were looking for a quaint town along the Cascade Loop and stayed two nights at this property based on other positive Trip Advisor reviews. It definitely has some positive aspects, but on the whole we were disappointed both with this property and with the town of Twisp in general.

PROS: The hosts were nice, provided inventive and delicious breakfasts (including edible flowers from the garden, for example), and made a great recommendation to attend the wonderful Methow Valley Chamber Music Festival in nearby Winthrop (which takes place in a barn outfitted with great acoustics). Coming back to find fresh baked goods in the evening was a nice surprise. On those things alone I would rate this place at least a 4, if it weren't for the cons.

CONS: Unlike all other B&Bs we've visited, this is a smallish private residence with only two guest rooms. They are adjoined by a common door, which would probably be great if you were one big family, but as a couple we could hear everything from the strangers in the next room - toilets flushing, conversations, etc. We were awakened rather early in the morning by a couple leaving for the airport, and were kept up late that same day by a different couple that was laughing while watching their TV. There was an unappealing stain on the carpet, and we had to deal with flying bugs from the adjacent garden. Finally, we didn't realize that the town of Twisp itself was such a flyspeck, with only a few restaurants and virtually nothing to do. The little bakery called Cinnamon Twisp was decent, but we had super slow service and were treated very rudely at the mediocre Thai place near the B&B (not listed on this site), which served the worst version of "Thai iced tea" I've ever had.

If I had it to do over again, I'd have stayed somewhere in the town of Winthrop instead. It has a kitschy-but-quaint Western theme, and seems to have a lot more options in terms of restaurants, shopping, etc.
