“Quick Stay, we WILL be back!!”

We wanted a nice B&B in Tri Cities area and found this one on-line. What a find- quiet, romantic , outstanding dinner. We had to leave early and the owners made us a hot breakfast at 6:30- incredible service and attention to detail! Wonderful outdoor pool too.

My sister and I enjoyed a lovely 2 night stay at Cameo Heights in Walla Walla wine country. Yes, the inn is geared for romance and I would love to bring my husband for Christmas, but because the owners pay such attention to every detail it was terrific. The setting is beautiful, amid 600 acres of orchards and overlooking hills and valleys in the distance. We had the Greek Room, and yes, it is a bit noisy due to its location near the communal room and kitchen, but its also huge and has french doors that lead out to the waterfall pool and patio. Each morning's breakfast was beautifully presented and yummy (we are both gluten free and Deanne made sure to accommodate us, even baking fresh gluten free danish for wake up).
We also did the prefixe multi course dinner at the Vine on the second night of our stay. We included the paired pours. The chef did a lovely job with presentation, wine pairs and fun experimental dishes. All was delicious, and again, they took care of our gluten free needs.
Overall I was very impressed with the accommodations, the care to detail, the food and the experience- especially for the area, which is up and coming, but not Napa yet. Is the decor what I would choose? No, but I don't need everyone to have similar tastes - variety is the spice of life. Someone mentioned a tract or religious message being included in the information given. We did get a sheet with our morning wake up that had a wonderful story about two brothers sharing and caring for each other. I wondered if it was chosen since we were two sisters staying together. I love inspirational messages, regardless of where they come from. It felt true to the family love that is at the foundation of the orchard and the house. All good in my opinion.
I highly recommend this property as a destination spot. You can go out to the wineries easily (which we did) but there is plenty to do right there (movie room, ping pong, games on the grounds, swimming, sunning, etc).

Room Tip: If you want quiet, don't choose the Greek Room, but if a little noise is no bother, it's a g...

My husband and I have been eyeing this place for a while. We were considering an anniversary stay (in November) but decided on a "just because" stay in August when the weather was nicer. After booking the Spanish Suite and making dinner reservations for a Saturday night we decided one night really was not enough and, just days before our stay, asked to be put on a cancellation list if the following Sunday opened anywhere in the mansion. Alan called us immediately when the Asian room opened up and we added that to our stay. He also waived the usual $20 fee and offered us breakfast in our room that next morning (which we later decided to have in the dining room after all....so much more fun).

Upon arrival we were given a tour of the mansion and we were so glad we booked an extra day just to experience everything...... the outdoor pool with water fall, hot tun, fire pit (complimentary smores kits), game room, movie theater room (with complimentary popcorn making machine just outside).

Entering our Spanish suite was breath taking and elegant. We had double French doors to the patio/pool area, a HUGE bed of softness, an equally huge jetted tub that was to die for, walk in rain shower.... we also loved the personal touches..... gift box full of bat soaps, salts and bubble bath, huge comfy robes, a rose and personal note, wine bucket and glasses, chocolates by the bed, lights on dimmer switches and an oh so fun bingo game that could be played by doing certain activities. Our room also had a personal notebook with wifi, a flat screen TV and DVD player. we were given the owner's personal numbers to call in case of any need.

Dinner in the Vine was elegant and personal at the same time. The staff was friendly and attentive and we found the course sizes perfect for us. Getting to watch the chef (who so obviously enjoys his work) cook and having him personally serve and describe each course was a very fun touch. Our only complaint of the weekend occurred for the first time here when my husband's meal included a food item we had listed on his food allergy list when we made our reservations. The chef whisked it right away and almost immediately replaced it with another but had he not described each course my husband may have unknowing eaten something he was allergic to.

Mornings are started with an option of "room service" delivery of coffee and a danish at 8 before the breakfast is served at 9. Being early risers we loved this. There is also a Keurig machine for making you own coffee in the kitchen area off the game room. Breakfast was different both mornings. I bravely tried something new our first morning and was immediately offered something else when I did not care for or eat it. We loved the yogurt bar the first morning and fruit plate the second.

Sunday we expected to have a wait between leaving our first suite and being able to check in to our second (check in time was told to us as 3pm) We planned on passing the time in the game and movie rooms but were pleasantly surprised when notified our new room was ready by 11:30 (check out is 11) and staff moved all of our things for us. We spent most of Sunday in and by the pool and hot tub with a gorgeous view and very pleasant music played over loudspeakers. When we settled in our room and the TV was not working Alan came right away and problem solved to get it going. He was very helpful and gracious about giving his help when needed.

Not wanting to leave the peacefulness at the mansion we took advantage of the option of "dinner in a basket" which we ordered when we made our reservations. Sunday at 5 we found our basket (complete with china and a great romantic touch of a candle and lighter) in the kitchen to bring to our room and eat whenever we liked. Unfortunately and for the second time a food item we had listed on my husband's food allergy list was in his salad but was large enough to be picked out.

Our overall impression was pampered elegance and charm with the sweetest personal touches throughout. We already can't wait to go back again.

Room Tip: The Spanish suite is elegant with double doors to the pool/patio area, fabulous and huge jetted tub...

Thank you for the detailed message. If I didn't already live here, I would make plans to visit based upon your generous review.
But I need to ask your forgiveness about missing the allergy (Twice). That is inexcusable and unacceptable and we will definitely review our procedures and redefine the steps we take to assure our guests that their allergies to certain ingredients will be carefully noted and strictly adhered to.

We loved everything about Cameo Heights Mansion. We stayed one night in the German room and it was immaculate and gorgeous. The jetted tub and very nice shower were luxurious. The movie theatre room was great and we enjoyed making our complimentary popcorn. We also loved all the little thoughtful extras. Dinner at the Vine was excellent and it was fun to try some new twists on food. The staff is so friendly and helpful. We wish we could have stayed two nights living like royalty.

About us:

We're a married couple, in our mid-30's (she's a math teacher, he's a programmer).

The short version:

We had a fun time, thought the money was well-spent, and would like to come back as soon as we can afford it. The chef, Nathan Carlson, is an undiscovered national superstar, without question.

The long version:

We had our eye on this place for a while. Recently, my wife surprised me with a two-night stay. We live in Vancouver, WA, and really didn't mind the four-hour drive. I noticed that some reviewers complain about the location... but... hey, you all have access to either a map or a map website/app, right? You know where it's located when you book. It's not that bad, and the countryside is very scenic. So, we enjoyed the drive.

The mansion is located in a dustbowl part of the state of Washington, but has access to very clean well water. The immediate, surrounding area is a lush, irrigated orchard with multiple types of fruit. The contrast, between the dirt and the garden scene, is quite pretty.

There are two separate businesses, within the mansion: One is the bed & breakfast, itself; the other is The Vine, an individual restaurant. The bed & breakfast doesn't allow children, but The Vine restaurant does, so keep that in mind. We, of course, don't mind kids at all--- We mind parents and grandparents who think their loud babies are cute when we're spending $200 on a quiet dinner. We asked to be re-seated outside (the baby was inside), and they didn't mind accommodating our request.

You pay for your own dinner. Both the fondue and the seven-course dinner that we had were outstanding. The fondue was better than The Melting Pot, actually. As we mentioned, the chef is outstanding, and could easily win any competition on The Food Network, in our opinion.

Breakfast is included in the price of your room, and we had fruit, with a choice of two entrees. The lemon curd french toast, and the panko-fried poached eggs were two of our favorites.

We stayed in the German Room, and really enjoyed it. The bathroom (complete with jetted tub and a rain shower) was perfect. The bed was comfortable, and the double-door balcony was a gateway to fresh air. There's also a little loft in this room, but it's not big enough for a bed (it's more of a coffee / chat / board game playing space). Lotion, chocolates, and bath robes were welcome accompaniments to the room.

The owners (Alan and Deanne Fielding) are an LDS, somewhat-senior, husband-wife couple who work very hard, and appear to also work long hours. We sympathized with their workload. They remained friendly throughout our stay, and you're given both of their cell numbers when you arrive. Alan is a former farmer with an "engineer with ADD" personality, and he radiates the impression that he welcomes constructive criticism.

From what we could infer, the whole mansion was scheduled to have the carpets cleaned during our stay, and that was a little awkward. I think it was a balancing act, for them, between "hey, how do we get the carpet cleaning guy to only have to make one trip" and "hey, how do we get all of the guests to step out of their room at some point during their stay". So, we politely agreed to go watch a movie (they have a large collection of DVDs and Blu-rays) in the on-premesis theatre (which is awesome, by the way)... but hey, they interrupted our movie and asked to clean the theatre carpets, too. (Sigh.. isn't there a better way to do it?) I don't think the one-trip-carpet-cleaning-master-plan is going to cut it, guys.

Anyway, we appreciated our stay there, and made an effort to be accommodating. Among other activities, we enjoyed playing tetherball, horseshoes, boardgames, walking through the apple orchard, and rolling down the grass hill. And, of course, the room. And the tub. And the loft.

Everything was pretty awesome, including the drive. You should stay here.

Room Tip: We got a peek inside the smaller Asian Room... we may stay there next! It's cute.

We appreciate your thorough very positive review. Of course we are not perfect as you can see but we are sure striving for it. Sometimes as you try to close in on a perfect stay, there are occasional bumps that happen like in this case.
The guests have made a valid point about the carpet cleaner coming in during their stay. We had a dilemma caused by our perfect occupancy for several weeks leading up to their stay. We could not find a chance where ANY of the rooms, let alone all of them at once, would be free for carpet cleaning. The carpets had been stained from wine very recently in three suites and the movie room. We tried to remove the stains in-house but they just kept coming back. We did the only thing we could do--we scheduled a carpet cleaning during the time we normally would be cleaning rooms or doing the stay overs. It wasn't a perfect arrangement but when the rooms never rest, one really doesn't have another apparent choice short of leaving the stain and we doubt anyone would like that. Clearly our failure here was to communicate adequately the day before that there would be carpet cleaning going on during the day so guests could adjust their activities accordingly. Please forgive our mistake and we will try harder to keep each person's stay serene by better communication.

We very seldom have children at the Mansion but occasionally couples or families do come for dinner. We endeavor to arrange the tables so couples can have a quiet serene dinner undisturbed by the occasional cry of a child. Again that is an area that is hard to be perfect on because we don't always know when kids are going to be involved but generally we are able to respond proactively by arranging the tables in different locations, as we did in their case.

Warm regards,
The senior overworked LDS innkeeper/owner with the "engineer with ADD personality" hahahah!

This is by far the best bed and breakfast I have stayed in, if not the best vacation experience of all time. Alan and Deanne are wonderful hosts and the little special touches that are included in the stay are awesome! House gorgeous, room UNBELIEVABLE, bed-superrrrr comfortable, bath-beyond expectations, food-toooo die for, pool and hot tub-awesome!!! I can't say enough good things about the place and hosts. We are going back and bringing 2 more couples with us. If I didn't have to fly to get there or I'd be there many times a year!

Room Tip: We stayed in the English Tutor Room, was lovely. It was on the top floor so we had no noise above us...

The experience was breath taking. From the moment my wife and I arrived to the time we left we felt like kings and queens, The rooms were amazing. Very clean. The amenities were top notch with the pool, fire pit, hot tub and theater rooms. The breakfast in the morning was better than any hotel or restaurant I've ever eaten at. Also the service was amazing. Anything we needed they were right there to help. I highly recommend this to anyone.

Room Tip: We stayed in the German room and loved it. Very spacious!
