Great for breakfast or lunch. Fun art on the walls and bathrooms. Very nice staff. Do not pass up on the coffee milkshake.

I love finding unique places to eat. This simple sandwich, soup and salad place was perfect for lunch. The atmosphere is casual and friendly. The food is good with portion sizes that fit both appetite and wallet. I had a salad with chicken it was very tasty.

Ok ok. This is like my 43rd review. Mostly at places we eat. I like food and finding good places. This place is legit. They scramble their eggs with espresso machine steam! No oil, no grease, no butter and it's done in about 12 seconds... The owner actually took me back and showed me the process. I ordered their "world famous oatmeal" ok big statement.... EXCELLENT! Come here and you won't regret it... Downtown across from union station.

We have been visiting Tacoma for about 6 years, always staying at a downtown hotel. We get tired of the hotel breakfast offerings and have always wandered around the immediate area or driven out of downtown for breakfast. After walking by this gem with our son, he mentioned that he had stopped in A Renaissance Cafe for coffee in the past. The menu looked delicious so we tried it the following morning. French Toast was good, waffle was very tasty but the eggs cannot be beat anywhere. With the owner's figuring out that he could scramble eggs in a cappuccino steamer, he turns out eggs with no added fat of oil or butter and they come out so light and fluffy. If you go in, ask the owner to tell you his Joe Biden story. If we head back to Tacoma, we will definitely have breakfast there again, but our son may get transferred to another part of the country by the end of the year.

Best breakfast in the area, partly a result of there not being enough breakfast places, but Renaissance Cafe really is different. From the psychedelic-inspired decor to the scrambled eggs made with a cappuccino machine, this place is both a trip and a treat.
