Great burgers, shakes, onion rings with a cool retro vibe! On a warm summer night, Frisko Freeze can't be beat!

“Puts the "Old" in Old-Fashioned”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

From the weathered image of a hamburger on the sign to the hand-written menu in the window Frisko Freeze is a throwback. A Tacoma tradition since World War II, this "burger joint" (meant in the best way possible) serves thousands of folks a day...at one walk up and one drive up window. Do you like onions on your burger? You're in luck! Lots of fresh cut onions on their "Beefburger." Do you like your fries hot? You're in luck. Fresh, hot, and the right combination of crispy and "bendy." Would you like a choice of shake or malt? Of course you would. Lots of flavors and flavor combinations.

That would be enough, wouldn't it? But, like the best infomercial on late night TV, "That's not all. There's more!" Frisko Freeze boasts the best Fishwich (and that's what they still call it!) in town. Flaky, flavorful and the kind of tartar your Mama would have served if she had been a mermaid.

Come on a rainy day and huddle with the hungry masses under the small awning. Better yet, come on a sunny day and watch the classic convertibles converge on the South Sound's hamburger classic!

“Always good”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

I have been visiting here for years. It has been a long while since my last visit, however, and I was surprised that fries cost as much as a burger and that a teeny little container of tartar sauce was 46 cents! That said, the workers are always pleasant and the burgers and fries are always good. Be prepared to wait 15 - 20 minutes, that is the norm. It is a take-it-to-go place (Wright Park is just down the street) and parking is limited. But it sure beats the usual fast food fare.

“Brings back the 50's”
Reviewed July 15, 2013

Everyone who's anyone who went to any High School in Tacoma has wonderful memories from Frisco Freeze. I even had an Interior Design client in Seattle who would load up a Denali full of people and take us all for one of the best burgers you'll ever eat. They haven't changed a thing in all these years. It's still a little shack on a parking lot too small to handle their loyal fans
