“Food average..service poor”
Reviewed June 29, 2014

This is the 2nd time we've been here..yesterdayad for happy hour. Decent weather but we were told when we arrived that we could sit on the deck but they had no servers for deck..we would have to go inside to place our order. There were 4 workers at the bar and only 4 other tables occupied inside. First of all, if they can bring us our food on patio, why can't they just pop out and take our order? We were told it was raining earlier so they didn't have a server outside. Hello...it's Washington..you may want to work this kink out. When we did go in to place our order, the guy at the bar seemed so put off and that we were bothering him...Second, our food was average and way over salted, same as our previous breakfast experience. They have a good concept and their food sounds good on the menu, but execution is poor. The only thing I would recommend here is the Bogey burger..happy hour price at $5. We love Pacific Grill and would love to see this place come up to the same standards.

“looooong wait”
Reviewed June 23, 2014

Came here for Sunday breakfast with two friends. The food was good, but the service was lacking. We arrived at 9:15, it took almost 10 minutes for the hostess to return from seating a couple. Another 10 minutes before we were offered menus. Another 10 before our orders were taken, 30 minutes before our food came. Also, unfortunately, we were seated at a table that allowed us to see that parties that arrived after we did were served before us. The restaurant was not crowded. I ordered the prime rib omelet, it was good, but not so fantastic that I would be anxious to return here and put up with the lackluster service.

“Dinner for 8”
Reviewed June 17, 2014

We had a great social dinner for four couples. Though it was a beautiful evening, we were seated inside. The restaurant was not crowded, so we had no one near us. That was probably good because we really enjoyed each others company and might have been a bother to a quiet table. We started with appetizers - the raw oysters and the cauliflower and some soups. Mains included the prime rib with one order plus an extra potato split between two people, the fish and chips, a couple of burgers, a pork chop special, salmon and dinner salads. (One order of bread was never delivered.) Everyone seemed pleased. Deserts included rhubarb tarts and sorbets. The wine list was nicely priced. We had a great time, and reasonable checks all around.

“Good food in a nice new (and NOISY) restaurant”
Reviewed June 17, 2014

We've been to Smoke and Cedar twice for the all-day happy hour. On the first visit, we sat on the patio and had a great time. The food was excellent overall and the prices reasonable. The fish and chips were very tasty. The fries are fresh and sliced very thin; however, although they taste great, they get cold almost instantly. The scattah' plattah' is a mix of fried seafood with fish, prawns, and calamari all fresh and perfectly fried. The burger was very tasty although on the rare side and the roast beef with cheese and roasted peppers was very good. The homemade potato chips were crunchy and fairly greasy and rather unremarkable. Portions are sizable and the unfiltered amber ale, the house draft, is very good. On our second visit we sat inside in the bar, and it was a completely different atmosphere: although the decor is new and post-modern, it was so LOUD we nearly lost our voices trying to scream at each other to be heard. The music was some sort of techno-whatever, and the waiter was good overall but trying a bit too hard at being cool. The place was packed on a Friday evening. We'll definitely go back, but on a sunny weekday evening to sit on the patio away from the noise. Nice view of the golf course.

“Excellent Experience, still working out the kinks”
Reviewed June 17, 2014

Outstanding customer service and extremely friendly servers and hosts. This place has only been open to the public for 10 days, but they have clearly made customer service a priority by hiring the right people for this industry.

Simplified menu which is very welcomed. The sister restaurant could take a lesson.

Smokey Palmer cocktail was intense. Literally infused with smoke. Oyster half shell with house made Mignonette sauce was very good. Minor issue with the shucking left loose shell pieces inside the shell and oyster meat. Owner acknowledged the issue and coach the line in technique.

Entree is the bistro steak with crisp roasted spuds and loaded baked potato sauce. This was an excellent dish proportioned right and cooked perfect medium rare. Perhaps offer some salt and fresh cracked pepper?

Maryhill Barbera from Columbia valley. Intense. Powerful. Wonderful.

They sold me on dessert. Rhubarb cobbler with vanilla Ice cream and caramel drizzle. I left no trace behind!

Overall excellent experience. They are working out the kinks that come with a grand opening. But the unique menu and ultra friendly staff will keep me coming back to share in the journey.
