“great buffet”

For the price the buffet including a tasty strawberry lemonade was well worth it. All kinds of different pizza and a soup, and two kinds of lasagna. they also had fresh watermelon. There was some other items but the pizza and lasagna filled me up. good stuff!

The food is just ok. The staff on the occasions we visited could care less if we enjoyed our time. They wanted to move us in and out. This is a family resturant but way too crowed for us. The noise level alone does not cater to young kids. This place reminds me of a college bar. If that's what your'e looking for, this place just might work.

“Great pizza”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 4, 2012

We were looking for a hearty meal at a place that was open somewhat late after a long day at Mt. Rainier and The Rock was recommended. We went on a weeknight around 8:00PM and the crowd was sparse. The outside of the building is just regular brick, but when you step inside, there's an instant funky vibe, with exposed brick and an emphasis on rock and roll, with photos and murals of famous musicians on the walls. We ate in the VooDoo Lounge (the bar) that had dozens of electric candles lining the exposed ceiling beams, stained glass windows, and a lot of skeleton decor.

The menu has everything from pasta to sandwiches, but the specialty is wood-fired pizza so we opted for that. There are numerous pre-selected options named after well-known songs or albums (California Dreamin', My Generation, Slow Ride) and you can also create your own. We wanted to split a 9" pie and try the garlic bread appetizer, but were told only the 12" & 16" could be done half & half (I'm a vegetarian in love with a meat eater), so we went with the 12" and skipped the garlic bread, a decision I quickly regretted when we tasted the pizza crust, which is the same dough they use for the garlic bread. The crust was not cracker thin and not deep-dish thick. I would call it chewy thin-definitely thin enough to fold, but not thin enough to get lost in toppings or snap in half. It was seasoned just slightly with some magic delicious dust-I have no idea what-but it was delicious and I found that the crust was my favorite part of the pizza! The toppings we selected were plentiful and fresh, though, as a cheese lover, I would have liked a bit more cheese. The sauce was perfect and not too heavy. All in all a very good pizza, if a touch pricey. The crust was good enough to warrant the price.

Our server was quick and pleasant and knew the menu very well. And a tip: don't leave without checking out the bathrooms. I don't think I've ever thought or written that before, but these were an exception: Black toilets and sinks, incense burning and some fun lyrics painted in the stall doors. Granted, nothing that'll shock your socks off, but still several steps up from your average restaurant bathroom.

We had a good meal at The Rock and would return if in town and in the mood for pizza. While the decor, service and food were good, it's the crust that would bring us back!

“Amazing Pizzas”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2012

We enjoyed the Brown Sugar cheese sticks - YUMMY! The pizzas were delicious. We all had something different but it was good. We ordered dessert and it was the one lack luster of the evening. Our server was AMAZING though. She took it back and took it off our bill too. The the manager came by to apologise too for the not so fresh/good dessert. They way they handled this was excellent customer service and this incident would not deter me from returning here. Must visit restaurant.
