The drinks, the food and the view are first class and very affordable. One of many place my husband took me when he was courting me. I was very impressed with him and Stanley & Seafort's then and still am very impressed now. Can't beat the Prime Rib!

I agree the service was not all that. We arrived for a celebratory dinner -- two couples marking a birthday and an engagement -- and had specifically requested a window table with the reservation. After waiting about 20 minutes past our reservation time we were seated in a back corner, far from the windows. We elected to wait a little longer and get a better table. Once seated (not by a window, but close enough), our waiter proved to be curt and ultimately inattentive. When I asked if they might have half a Seafood Louie, his response was "no, but we have these things called to-go boxes if you can't eat it all." Once we received our entrees, we were abandoned, though we wanted to order another bottle of wine. We had to get up and go tap the house manager to get the wine. Then our plates were left on the table for a very long time after we were finished.

That said, the food was very good for such a large, busy restaurant with a view. It totally smacks down dining at the Space Needle, for example, or Salty's in West Seattle. All of the fish and shellfish was perfectly cooked and moist. Our shared Grand Tasting Sampler appetizer plate and my Seafood Louie were generous with the amount of crab, large prawns and salmon, plus tasty accompaniments.

In the end, the waiter comped us two creme brulees for dessert, so that was nice. And again, the brulees were surprisingly generous and nicely done.

We had dinner reservations for 7:45 p.m. on Valentine's Day. My wife and I arrived a few minutes late. Despite the horde of people awaiting a table, we were promptly seated without delay. Our server was Danielle...THE BRIGHT SPOT!

We both ordered the Peppercorn New York steaks, an appetizer of macadamia-encrusted Brie and a drink. Danielle brought some bread and the drinks. The Brie showed up and was a bit less than average....somewhat tasteless. Danielle advised that the kitchen was backed up and that our dinner would be somewhat delayed. That was at 8:57.

When the steaks did arrive, my wife's was prepared to specifications and was great. Mine, on the other hand, was gristle, fat and char. There were, however some tasty morsels, but overwhelmingly underwhelming.

We've been going to this restaurant for years. But, on this occasion, the seating was crammed together, and our table...third row from the windows...was less than scenic. You'd think that on such an occasion, kitchen staff would have been ramped up...cuts of meat would have been surveyed and meals promptly prepared for delivery. But, that's you and not them.

We visited S&S last week, the first time we dined here in just over a year. The food - both appetizers and the entrees - had no taste and were very poorly presented. My filet was not a filet - 1/2 was fat - yuck! The restaurant was nice enough to refund the steak. Not sure want has changed in the past 12 months, but it was not a positive change. It is unlikely that we will visit again.

While the restaurant has outstanding views of the city and great atmosphere, the food is just ok. On our particular evening celebrating my husband's birthday while visiting our daughter, she suggested coming here. She had reserved our table by the window. For some reason they were making a substitution for one of the dinner specials that evening. I tried it, short ribs and prawns and the prawns were ok but the beef was lacking....taste..yuck. My husband had a small filet and our daughter had prime rib. She said it was good but not as good as previous visit. We were full and didn't have dessert. Hubby did have his free birthday dessert which was like a creme brulee. Pretty pricey dinner bill but we thought better than some restaurants here at home. Service was rushed and had to keep asking for refills or extra butter and even our water filled.
