A walk through history of US cars in a spectacular setting. Mr. LeMay had amassed the largest private collection of cars in the world, and it could hardly have found a better way to continue his heritage. On display, as well, a working slot cars track whose layout includes some of the most famous turns of a few US circuits (Laguna Seca corkscrew, Daytona banked turn, and others), and quite realistic racing simulators.

The museum opened about 3 1/2 years ago next to the dome stadium in downtown Tacoma . Easy access from Interstate 5. It has about 2500 autos and other wheeled vehicles that rotate from the family's homestead nearby in Spanaway, Washington. The collection is all family owned. The musuem that houses the displays is unique. It looks like a giant aluminum catepillar from my viewpoint. Well worth a picture or two inside and out.

I love spending time with the volunteers who provide their take on the various cars and motorcycles on display. There is a bunch of other collectibles available to view as well. For me it is always a walk down "Memory Lane" because I have stories to tell of my own on cars I have owned and driven that have representative vehicles on display at this 1900+ vehicle collection. Well worth some time - even when it is cold outside!

I saw the cars my dad had admired, from the early horseless carriage,to the Stanley Steamer, to the nifty and grand cars we see in the movies. Four floors of pristinely maintained vehicles. The staff and docents were friendly and enthusiastic. I'll go again and bring grandkids and friends.

The LeMay car collection is huge. The museum is laid out very well. It is spread over 4 floors, with no stairs. The car displays are set up on very gradual ramps. So, it is very easy for anyone to leisurely stroll thru and see and enjoy, and learn about all the spectacular cars.
