This is the place to go in the South Sound to see independent movies. The theaters are small, and shows can sell out easily because of the seating. The Grand is a significant part of what makes Tacoma an above average place to live.

My son works in Hollywood and he can't believe the variety of movies we see at The Grand Cinema. Some are Hollywood hits, like "The Descendants". Many are smaller, independent films or foreign films. What they have in common is excellence in film making. Most are memorable and thought provoking. They are beautifully filmed and offer glimpses of the culture behind the scenes. The theaters are smaller and quieter. Concessions are reasonably priced. Good value for top quality. I can't wait to see what they will show next!

If you're tired of the big movieplexes and yearn for thoughtful movies, The Grand Cinema is the place to go. You can always count on The Grand to feature the great independent films that never seem to make it to the big theaters. Not enough blood and guts I guess! This theater also has a good snack bar and their prices are reasonable in comparison. Two thumbs up!

Small, funky, great films, relatively inexpensive (although I wish they'd roll back their coca cola prices...that's the only thing that makes me think it's "just another movie theatre rip off" (but not as bad as most, that's for sure). Really great selection of films on almost any day.

I love to go to this movie theater because it shows great movies (indie type) that you usually don't find at the larger theaters. Each theater room is small and intimate. The staff is also very polite and friendly.
