The zoo had undergone a lot of remodeling, with the new centerpiece being the aquarium. The animals look to be in pretty good condition and have room to roam. Many of the exhibits are somewhat "naturalized" so the animals may not always be seen. There are a lot of activities for the children to learn about, feed, and even touch animals.

We are grandparents and went with our young teen grandsons and their parents. We really enjoyed the penguins and learned a lot about the colony from the zoo person. We also learned a lot about the elephants from a zoo person and then were able to go on a tour of the elephant barn that was very interesting and got to hear more stories about the elephants. We ate at the cafe and it was reasonably priced. We spent 5 hours there and didn't see everything. We each picked out animals we wanted to see and tailored our walk through the park that way. Drinks were the most expensive so really recommend bringing a bottle to fill with water. They have filling stations in lots of places. Went to the gift shop and there are items for every price range.

The zoo isn't bad when you look at the overall size of the city/county. However it is spread out and while we were there at least several exhibits were not active.

The biggest disappointment though was some of the furnishings of the zoo animals. Some of them had toys in the pen, that were just pieces of plastic, almost felt like there was garbage in the pen.

They did have some great exhibits, the tigers were awesome, and some of the smaller exhibits were nice. It is worth a visit every few years, but if the price makes you hesitate, you might want to save and go to the Seattle Aquarium or the Woodland Park Zoo for a bigger bang for your buck.

This zoo was small and very spread out. We did not receive a map upon entry (after we had a lot of trouble scanning our tickets!) and couldn't find where they were located. Finally we took a picture with our phone of one of the maps inside the zoo and that helped. The animals were out, but there were not very many exhibits, so we really didn't see anything new or exciting.
I have Celiac Disease and there was NOTHING for me as far as food options. One place offered a gluten free bun if you ordered a burger, but you can't eat the fries because no separate fryer. I would say if you are in the Seattle-Tacoma area, hit the Woodland Park Zoo instead. You get more bang for your buck.
