“Tacoma Museum of Glass and Hot Shop”
Reviewed June 5, 2014

Whether you are an art fan or not, you will find this an interesting and informative place to visit. In the Hot Shop, you will observe how glass is made. Try to go when a docent is available for questions.

The pieces on display in the galleries change regularly. The gallery is small but very nicely displayed.

The only warning I have is that parking is all pay by the hour and the least expensive we could find was $4 for 2 hrs. that is a couple blocks away from the museum.

“The Museum of Glass makes me happy!”
Reviewed June 4, 2014

The Museum of Glass in Tacoma is a short train ride from Seattle. I hop on Amtrak in the morning and catch it back to Seattle in the afternoon. The various art installations are always great as it's cool to see what different glass artists are creating. and then I can sit in the hot shop all day just watching them blow glass. It's entertaining and ever changing. If you get too cold, then go outside and look at the glass out there as well as see what's happening on the river. This is a magical place!

“Amazing!”
Reviewed May 31, 2014

This is a world-class art museum, featuring some of the most amazing art glass from artists around the world. But one of the most incredible features of this museum is the working "hot shop," when artists-in-residence and on staff blow incredible glass pieces before your eyes -- it's stadium-style seating, with a large video display above to provide close-up details of their work & technique, *and* with a detailed narration as you watch . . .

This is worth a visit even if you have to drive down from Seattle!

“A must see!”
Reviewed May 30, 2014

Went here with family - it was my first time! This is a beautiful space, with incredible works of art Try to visit when the gallery is open and the artists are at work. It is truly amazing to watch them as they sculpt and mold the glass. The museum store has some beautiful pieces for sale. If you take a quick survey after your visit, you are "awarded" with a cute glass lady bug! Definitely worth the time.

This is a great place to visit often. There is much to see inside and out of the museum. Exhibits are always high quality and the museum store is also a must visit.
