“Much to love”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 15, 2014

We spent a night here 10 years ago (and loved it then) and loved being able to return and spend another night at this peaceful place. Things to love: location on/over the water - beautiful views - even from a side room. Clean and comfortable. Loved having a microwave, fridge and small sink in addition to the coffee maker. Though we didn't have a jacuzzi tub or fireplace this time - they still have them. Good breakfast. Perhaps most important...this is a quiet hotel (non slamming doors, quiet strips) - yes if you sleep with your windows open you will hear the trains go by, so keep the windows closed! Most of all we just loved sipping our coffee and looking out at the water. We plan to return much sooner than ten years! This is a great place for guests who are doing business or visiting family members in Tacoma - and while you will need a car for the short drive along the waterfront to downtown, there are several restaurants that you can walk to along the water front (don't believe a previous poster who said there is just one.)

Room Tip: Third floor is the top floor

We enjoyed staying on the pier with such a great view. The rooms were nice but the view was the real star. Decent breakfast the next morning. Very quite neighborhood but easy access to downtown Tacoma, Tacoma Dome, and I-5.

Clean, friendly, great location on the water. Rates are very competitive. We received a free upgrade to a suite becuase they noticed we had a 13 year old with us. They said we might like some privacy. Breakfast is sel-serve and mostly waffles, sausages and scrambled egs with danish and fresh fruit. Everything you need and a great view. Staff is amazing and friendly. Forget the large hotel chains and book this hotel instead. you will love it. Location is great to stroll at night along the shireline and take in a drink, appetizer, dinner or dessert at one the the many establishments (We liked Duke's).

Room Tip: Ask for a suite upgrade if possible - gives you a FP and seperate sitting area with second large fla...

We stayed in the deluxe King suite with the Jacuzzi. Windows were on two sides of the room which made enjoying the waterfront more special.

It was spacious, king size bed, microwave and refrigerator, coffee pot, a walk in shower and plenty of toiletries. For a New Years Eve the hotel was remarkably quiet, only the sound of car doors closing occasionally in the free parking lot. The morning breakfast was well stocked with food and our favorite the waffle maker. From the time we walked in the front door every staff member including the housekeeping team welcomed us.

Room Tip: Be sure and get driving directions, we did. It gets a little confusing when you head toward the wate...

I had never stayed in Tacoma, but what a gem we found!!! The hotel was out on a Pier and it was fun to watch the fishermen morning, noon and night fishing. One guy pulled a huge starfish out of the water and let me take a photo before putting him back into his home. We had stayed there in August and we had beautiful weather and the beds were very comfortable. The hotel serves a very nice continental breakfast more up market them most hotels.

The Silver Cloud Inn edges Puget Sound--actually, it hangs right over the cold clear water. What a view! Could see low foggy hills in the distance with yachts and sea kayaks much nearer. Was lucky to catch the local yacht club motor by all dressed in Christmas lights. They were beautiful in the dark night.

Now the hotel itself. The room was better than nice but not outstanding in any particular way. It did have an electric fireplace (yes, electric) and 2 large plasma TVs (one for the main bed and another for the seating area with a pull-out couch and a sliding door for the privacy of the user. Downstairs was comfortable. A generous breakfast was included. Only real criticism was of the gym. It was great for one person, but sincer was only one of each machine (total of 3), it would have been difficult for more people to share the facility.

Tip! Reserve room 340. Its the upper level with the most impressive views of the bay. Any room near the rear and higher will do you best.

I grew up in Tacoma and now stay here when we are visiting family. This is by far one of the best locations in Tacoma to stay at. It is right on the water and walking distance to some of the best restaurants Tacoma has to offer while being less than 5 minutes away from Downtown Tacoma. Rustin Way is a historic area of Tacoma. The hotel rooms were cozy and view is amazing!
