We have stayed at a King Oscar before and had always said if we are ever in the area of one again that would be the place to stay. We had hoped to stay in the one where we previously stayed but due to them being bought out by Days Inn, it was a little out of our price range, plus they didn't have anything we were looking for available. So we decided to book the one in Tacoma. We booked for two nights but worried a little when we first saw the hotel cause it seemed a bit more run down but the neighborhood didn't seem so bad and it was right off the freeway. We were pleasantly surprised and had a great nights sleep both nights. The only bad thing I would have to say about this was the fact they were under construction so their breakfast area was in the lobby, which didn't have much room. Also, they must have been renovating the room next to ours because there was quite a bit of banging around and we saw them hauling stuff out of the room as we were leaving. Other than that, no complaints. A few days later we booked this hotel for just one night but our experience was completely different. My husband went to check in and while in there asked for extra towels. He was given some excuse of management doesn't buy any extra towels to give and also something about housekeeping not being there so it wasn't possible to get any. So we headed to our room and my husband decided he would run in to find our room since we were in the very back building and all rooms are inside and there's no way of knowing where to park to be close to your room. He came back out a few minutes later and mentioned we'd have to head back to the office. Apparently our room was not clean. The tv was on and the bed was not made. He thought he may have been given a room already rented out or that of course housekeeping didn't get it cleaned. Back at the office the front desk clerk once again made an excuse as to why it wasn't done. Instead of apologizing and just immediately getting us a new room she went on to say that housekeeping sometimes has too many rooms that management gives them and they don't have enough time to clean them. So the front desk isn't always aware of what is or isn't clean. She finally gave us another room in the same building but this time it was top floor. It was obvious we were given an older outdated room. We had a small old box style tv, no hair dryer. Even for one night I was not happy with what we were given. They had no desire to accommodate us even though we put in specific requests when booking. I think because we checked in late we were bumped from any possible good rooms. Needless to say I am very very disappointed and will most likely never stay at this specific location again.

Located in a decent part of town, this hotel is relatively nice for its age. Beds are comfortable, room had a small odor to it, but nothing a spray of Febreeze didn't fix. Quiet, restful nights sleep. Nice laundry facilities, nice pool and front desk staff are amazingly polite. Landscaping is nice, well kept on outside as well as in... I would stay there again if in the area, definitely a bargain of a hotel for a stop over when in the area..

We booked this hotel for our road trip - conveniently located near the main highway, late check-in, great value for the money! Room was large, clean, fresh. Plenty of towels and toilettries. The hotel had lots of parking space - perfect for all - small cars, RVs and Trucks. Breakfast was very nice - lots of hot and cold variety food. Very fast check in and check out. We were very satisfied and would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: I think this hotel is better suited for one-two night stays - it was perfect for us as we were just...

First of, yes it's not a hotel where you should go for your honeymoon eheh.

There is one part of the hotel that has been remodeled and has flat screen TV, mini frige, microwave, new AC, hair dryer etc. The mattress in those rooms is new too and pretty comfortable but most important it's pretty quiet. Price for one week is around 360 USD. The neighborhood is ok and they got security anyways, never had a problem.

I would have given them 4 stars, but the internet IS extremely slow. I've stayed 2 weeks here last year and it was the same problem, you can't even stream a movie sometimes.....if they would fix that problem, i'm sure the ratings would go up a lot............(HINT!!!!)

I didn't make use of the breakfast option nor the pool, so no comment on that.

Room Tip: Ask for a top floor room in the renovated section of the hotel.

We went to a ball game at Cheney Stadium and this hotel was a good deal. It was fine but the carpets could be replaced. It is an older building and it looks like it is popular with truckers. The breakfast was good.....not a lot of selection and could have used some more fruit and yoghurt. There is no view and there is an indoor pool. The kitchen in the room would be very useful if you planned to stay for a few days. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were very nice. The bathroom was clean but the shower head was a little low and not a lot of pressure. There are a lot of hotels in this area so I don't think I would stay here again but it was definitely good value for your money.

Room Tip: We asked for a room away from the highway

The rooms at both locations were large and clean with very comfortable beds. The rooms had refrigerators and microwave ovens as well as WIFI, all at a lower price then most hotels in the Tacoma, WA area. It is not a new hotel by any means but well cared for. We stayed in the building that housed #650. I did see that the building across from us had doors that open to the outside(more motel ish) where ours were inside like a regular hotel We were a bit concerned as it was almost deserted (no cars) but found it to feel very safe and comfortable. The included breakfast was standard continental with waffle makers. but was edible and filling. Both locations are near restaurants, fast food and gas stations. Not a great area though. I will stay there as long as the price remains competitive.

Room Tip: 650 quiet and peaceful and big
