We enjoyed our week stay at the shilo. It's great for families, close to restaurants and shopping. It's even got a Pokémon go gym for game players. The worst thing about the hotel is the interstate noise. It's not noticeable as much in the day but the traffic never ever stops. If you are on the backside of the hotel, you may want to leave your fan or tv on for cover noise as its incessant. Management should invest in better windows for sound insulation on that side as I spent many a night just listening to trucks roll by.

We stayed here for only one night, because our house was being worked on. We know the area, and knew that there aren't a lot of nice hotels around. We were glad we booked this one. It was very nice and clean, the staff very friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay there again when we have more work done, and we'd recommend it to friends and family. I overslept and didn't try their breakfast, but hope to next time.

We stayed here when attending a horse show so not a lot of time spent in the hotel. It was clean, comfortable beds, but poor pillows. A nice pool. Front desk staff helpful and check the in/out was simple and fast. The hotel is close to restaurants and shops. Also close to the highway exit/entrance.

Stayed in the Tacoma Shilo Inn for 3 nights. We found the front desk staff, especially JJ, to be very welcoming and friendly. Rooms were clean, bed was comfortable and we found it to be quiet at night (another reviewer mentioned lots of street noise but we didn't hear it - maybe because of the room location). Bathroom was clean and in good working order. The bar area in our room was stocked with glassware, dishes and some basic pots/pans.

The complimentary continental breakfast was not fancy but it was more than adequate and clean with a full time attendant keeping the area stocked and tidy. Items included coffee, hot tea, fruit juice, yogurt, bagels, pastries, a selection of cold cereal and fresh fruit as well as make your own waffles.

We did not use the indoor pool, hot tub or fitness facility, but they were clean and appeared well maintained.

There is ample parking. Several casual dining restaurants are within walking distance, as is Bass Pro Shop.

This is not a luxury hotel by any means. However, if you are looking for a clean, comfortable place on this side of Tacoma, this is a good choice.

I stayed here many years ago and it was fabulous. So I wanted to stay here the first time returning to Sea/Tac. Not good anymore.
What people say about noise can't be ignored. I5 is a VERY noisy interstate until around midnight, and the noise starts up again at 3-4am. Loud pickups and motorcycles so don't expect a good night sleep. The windows are very poor and weather stripping is lo leaky that you can open the window and it's not much noisier compared to shut. We were on the north side. I asked for a room on the east side away from I5 and they said it would be $20 more per night. And the hotel wasn't that full.
Another huge problem is the business computer - running Windows XP and it hasn't been patched in months or years. DON'T USE IT - it no doubt has malware and been compromised and you will likely have your usernames and passwords and possibly credit card information stolen. I pointed this out and they said they would tell their "IT department" about it, but I'm sure no one has touched it. So they haven't bought a new computer for guests in at least 15 years and it's pretty much the same story for the rest of the hotel. (see windows above)
Carpets are sticky, rooms are very dated, hallway walls are all scraped up from housekeeping carts, I saw the guy check chemicals in the pool each morning, but there is a major bathtub ring around the edge and the water doesn't look clean nor does the bottom of the pool look like it's been cleaned in 15 years. Same is for the hot tub.

Beds are very very firm (if you like firm) and so are the pillows. So my kids and wife had a very hard time sleeping on the beds and then there was all the noise.

There is a fitness room (tread mill, elliptical and machine that needs some service work), but no water, working TV or any free weights. WiFi is barely usable and wasn't working at all some nights.

Breakfast is just barely tolerable. Waffles and pancakes have a rubbery batter, items are out-of-stock often and the host staff are pretty nasty to guests. The cereal dispensers end up dumping more than a bowl full quite easily and cereal goes all over the table and floor. The hostesses are obviously frustrated by having to continually clean up these messes by the remarks they make to guests. Then the milk lid easily falls off and spills milk all over if you don't hold the top on. Fresh fruit = green apples and a banana or two. They do have some yogurt and instant oatmeal if there is any hot water available.
This is not a very safe neighborhood any longer. A half block away are a lot of homeless people and the strip mall a block away has two security guards protecting it in the late afternoons.
We typically stay at Hampton Inns and maybe I'm spoiled by just how much they care for their customers and the satisfaction of their customers. This place is a real disappointment for the money. I've only stayed at one place that was worse than this. It's too bad that the owners or the staff don't really care at all about who they are and what they do or that their customers are really happy about their rest. They try to have a lot of items to check off on the amenities list, and hotel photos were likely taken a long time ago after a really nice cleaning. It's not as nice as they show. Check out other hotels just down the road. You'll have a much nicer and more pleasant stay.

Room Tip: East side away from freeway. VERY NOISY - very poor windows and failing weatherstriping. THEY WILL CHARGE YOU MORE FOR ROOMS AWAY FROM I5!!!
