“Great New Hotel in tacoma”
Reviewed August 16, 2008

The new Hotel Murano is amazing. It is more like a glass art museum. The lobby is gorgeous with lots of art to look at. Each floor has its own artist with a beautiful piece of glass art with explanations about how it was made. The rooms are beautiful. Ours had a wonderful view of Mt. Rainier. This may be the most beautiful hotel, lobby, and room we have ever staying in. It is worth walking around if you are in Tacoma even if you aren't spending the night. The room was clean, very modern, and roomy. TERRIFIC place to stay (It is hard to believe they did such a great job of remodeling the old Sheraton - you wouldn't possibly know it was the same building unless someone told you!)

We had a business meeting at this hotel and I stayed overnight as our meetings ran late. The hotel was impressive from the on-line photos. It didn't fail to impress in looks, but upon our arrival, the elevator wasn't working, we were walking around workers spread out across the entryway repairing the floors, the restrooms were locked and when we stopped at "The Bite" to order a cup of coffee, we sat there for almost fifteen minutes without the woman behind the counter even acknowledging us. We were put into a meeting room that didn't lock. When it looked like our business meeting may not run as late as anticipated, we inquired about the cancellation fees and told it was a full-night's charge - no exceptions.

Overall, it seems the hotel should spend less time on their artwork and repairing the beautiful tiled floors and more time on remembering what should come first - their customers. Very disappointing!!

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. I apologize for the ongoing work being done during your stay. These were corrections to errors made during renovation and all have been completed, including all meeting rooms being able to lock. I have also addressed the poor service you encountered in BIte. Thank you again for this feedback as it allows us to continually improve

The per night stay cost at the Hotel Murano was the same price that we paid for the Hampton Inn by SeaTac the night before (around $150) - actually the Hampton Inn was a few dollars more, but Murano does not have free breakfast. :-)

The most impressive thing to me was the service at the hotel. The employees were very attentive and always treated us graciously. The workout room has a couple of treadmills and two or three elipticals - along with a weight machine and some other equipment. It's a nice room with plenty of space - I did feel that it could be a little bit cleaner - the machines needed to be cleaned around the foot area. I did appreciate the towels and water in the room along with sanitizer sheets for cleaning off the equipment.

The coffee machine and amenities provided in the room are handy - I wish they would have "mini-moos" instead of Coffeemate creamers as I like to avoid partially hydrogenated oils.

Our shower leaked like crazy - I don't know if that was unique to our room, or if that is a design problem.

I have comments about the restaurant too - but I will post that in another review.

Overall, I loved staying here - the hotel feels a bit glamorous and the glass art focus is lovely and interesting. I would definitely choose this hotel again.

This place has been very nicely redone. It's beautiful in the lobby and I love the giant horse lamp! The rooms are comfortable and clean, and the restaurant is decent. Best of all, the location is great for staying in Tacoma!

We think this is a marvellous, stunningly beautiful artisitic hotel. Room decor was drop dead gorgeous. Wine & cheese, and breakfast in the louge were great. Oahn was a wonderful hostess (in fact she came in early to get us breakfast before our very early Sunday morning flight). But we did not get a wake up for our flight from the hotel. This kind of error is inexcusable and should NEVER happen. Overall despite this glaring mistake, this is a wonderful hotel with friendly helpful staff, a great glass museum feel, and a real bargain to boot. We will definitely visit again.

Very nice new rooms. Decor is beautiful and everything is very clean. Bathroom was very clean and modern. Beds & sheets were high quality. The only thing is we thought the front desk people were not very friendly or helpful. I called to get information on the visitor center nearby twice and got a short "I don't know. Call the concierge." who was not there to answer the phone. So I just gave up.
