“Great spot for fun, recreation and relaxation on the Columbia River!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 19, 2011

Extremely friendly and helpful staff, beautiful rooms, and expansive grounds with many recreational opportunities make Skamania a great place to stay! Skamainia is walking distance from the little town of Stevenson, if one wants to explore the local communities, and a short drive away from Cascade Locks and Beacon Rock State Park for numerous outdoor adventures. On-site, there are hiking trails, free bicycle usage for adult guests, tennis courts, pool and hot tub so there is plenty to do even for non-golfers like ourselves! We did not have time during our two-night stay to do everything we wanted to do--we will definitely return!

Excellent food choices. Nice, easy and fun hiking trails. The staff will make you feel relaxed and at home. If you need or want something, just ask and you will be surprised at how well things will be handled. Don't pass up the Spa experience and then relax in one of the nice rocking chairs in the lobby and look out the huge windows at the grounds and the Columbia River Gorge.

Skamania is a lovely hotel slightly reminiscent in a very modern way of the Ahwanee in Yosemite. Skamania has a huge atrium with seating surrounding the fireplace or looking out over the river. The dining area likewise has two story ceilings with exposed woodwork throughout. The river side rooms have stupendous views, but there is a down side. The hotel is built in an arc and catches the sound from the grounds below and funnels it up to the riverside rooms. This is a convention and wedding hotel, so there can be a lot going on below. One party wound up at 4 am during our stay. You get get all of the view from the atrium or the deck chairs outside. Plenty of seating, including a fire pit. Evidently the hotel is family friendly, we saw lots of children. This is not a place for a romantic get away, too much commotion with the weddings, conventions, and families. The breakfast buffet at $14.50 was well worth it and the dining room looked out at the River. The rooms were quite comfortable and well appointed. Our friends enjoyed the golf course, but found it narrow. Lots of lost balls in the woods. Spa, tennis, and hiking are all on site.

My family and I stayed here for a conference. It was truly a wonderful experience. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean - and I'm a stickler for bathrooms. My kids thoroughly enjoyed the pool. In addition, the view is spectacular. It is worth the extra to have a view of the lake.

My husband and I love to stay at lodges on our vacation and this one was an excellent choice. Located on the Washington side of the Columbia River Gorge this hotel is a perfect property for those looking for both adventure and relaxation.
Along with being a green and environmently friendly hotel the staff here go out to their way to make you feel welcome at and at home. There is also someone there to help you on excursions or fun things to do in the area.
The rooms are a nice large size with a sitting area extending from the bedroom and I would strongly recommend that you request a Gorge view. The rooms also have fireplaces etc. On property their are several resturants, a pool and spa, golf course, as well as a beautiful lawn area to play games or just enjoy the view.
I would strongly recommend this place to others as it was one of the best places we stayed on this trip.

Loved staying in a room with a River view. It was awesome! Great to have golf, hiking, swimming and wonderful restarants at the resort so you didn't even have to leave.

Room Tip: Loved the river view room. Was beautiful to watch the sun rise!
