“Best Brunch”

We only had breakfast (which was very good) and Sunday brunch here. The Sunday brunch was fabulous, be sure and ask for a table at the window, what a view. And do it early they fill up. 3 meats at carving station, omlets and eggs cooked to order. So much sefood including fresh shrimp and crab legs. Crackers and cheese and many other sides. Worth the trip from Portland.

We did the buffet. The food tasted great and the selection was amazing. We could have used bigger stomachs that day.

“Breakfast buffet”
Reviewed July 20, 2014

We were here mid week, and ate at 10 am. I was very disappointing that the food was barely warm and certainly not fresh. If they made smaller quantities they would be able to replenish and still have fresh and hot food. They brought out a fresh (I thought) batch of french toast, it obviously had been made much earlier. It was just as dry as they pan they removed. At these prices, I expect much better meals. Perhaps they just should not offer the buffet during the week if they can't maintain it properly.

“Gorgeous view and excellent food”
Reviewed July 8, 2014

After several lunches in the dining room, all of them good, I recently tried the restaurant for a dinner with friends. At my table, there were two orders of the oven-baked salmon, one steak, and one pork chop. The verdict: very good food. The salmon, served over a bed of steamed or braised spinach was one of the best salmon dishes I've ever had.

I've tried the smoked salmon chowder twice for lunch, and found it a bit thick and lacking finesse. It's on the dinner menu, too, and I suggest ordering a cup, not a bowl, if you want to try it. I had cup of chicken vegetable soup with dinner. It was good but didn't really need thickeners.

Service was very friendly and attentive. The dining room itself is beautiful and has one of the best water views of any restaurant in the Portland area.

For visitors to Portland who want a nice, short Columbia Gorge experience, the trip out I-84 to Cascade Locks and the Bridge of the Gods across to Stevenson, WA, takes about 45 minutes. At the Washington end of the bridge, turn right and look for the left turn toward the lodge in about a mile or so. John Gray, the developer of Skamania Lodge and Salishan on the coast, acquired some outstanding artwork by Northwest artists and filled the walls with it.

“Good fish”

Loved the smoke salmon plate, the sturgeon and that they accommodated my diet. I have a medical diet that is hard to explain but they were willing to substitute items. All was very fresh.
