It had been awhile since we had been to Lindamans, so we decided to stop and get a nice picnic dinner to take to Manito Park. We had just had some catered items at a function we attended a few weeks before, so our hopes were high. At the park, we dove into the food, but to our surprise our choices were mediocre at best. The salmon was overcooked and dry, the chicken salad was mostly fruit and nut and very little chicken (hard to tell at first glance under all the dressing), the couscous salad was just okay, and the decadent cheesecake - wasn't. For the price of the take-out we could have had a nice sit-down dinner elsewhere. Some of their food items have been very good; perhaps, it was just our turn to have items that weren't.

It's an upscale buffet, with the food kept behind glass and some of the hot dishes re-heated. Never had a bad meal, but few outstanding meals. But they tend to rock the desserts.

We visited for a change of pace and had great meals. We chose to sit down and stay instead of take away. We had italian meat loaf and mashed potatoes and chicken parmesan, both excellent. Though it was a little late and we were one of 4 clients left, every table had a lit candle which added to the old building's character and atmosphere. Happy to finally have a CA glass of wine, we were disappointed with it; I was told I had to swirl it because bottle was just opened...swirling didn't work, but we still enjoyed our dinner. What we did notice is that their water is actually very tasty! We've been here before, if it weren't as pricey, we'd visit more often.

I have never had a bad lunch there yet! I am always excited to see what they have, and as busy as they are.. get there early.. and if you don't.. they ARE worth the wait!!
