I’m from Central California, where there are a lot of Hispanics. Persons of Mexican descent are very common. Consequently, Central California has excellent Mexican food, for the most part. In Spokane, the opposite is true. (Spokane does have good food but it’s generally not Mexican or Asian). Gerardo’s is a delicious exception. It’s owned by the same family as Abelardo’s, in Spokane Valley. The food is homemade and fresh. Their chile rellenos are excellent. Like Abelardo’s, they make their beans with lard, which is traditional. I don’t care for the fattiness of their refried beans. Other than that, Gerardo’s serves quite tasty Mexican food at a reasonable price.
