Great neighborhood restaurant with excellent staff. Our waitress Martha was attentive, friendly, fast on her feet, and the reason why we are absolutely coming back! Food was well priced and we left happy.

Staff is personable and food is consistently reliable. I love the omlettes any time of day. No pressure to leave if you want a long visit with friends. Nothing fancy but it's where the locals come back again and again.

Here we have your basic neighborhood restaurant~~ With its wallpaper, hanging plants, '50s background music, counter and booths, combined with the no-surprises menu, it is a kind of time-warp.
You'll always see senior citizens dining, or older guys having coffee klatches.
We especially enjoy the breakfasts, which are dependably hot and served any time of the day.
You can have cottage cheese & fruit, but don't expect the fruit to be fresh--it'll be canned.
They're good about freshly-sliced tomatoes. Sometimes they feature fish dinners and locally-made pies for dessert. Kids like the hot chocolate with whipped cream.

My wife and I had breakfast at The Chalet on the Spokane's south side this morning. We were treated like family by Lisa and Julie and even the bus boy was busy greeting customers and serving coffee. We understood Jay, the owner, was helping out in the kitchen because they were short-handed. The food was hot and delicious and it's nice to have our own coffee pot on the table so we can keep our own cup full. Though they were busy, the staff made sure we were taken well care of. We"ll go back to this place for sure!

A friendly fun place to eat, with some old-fashioned charm. In general, the food is tasty, the service is great, and it makes you feel welcome and at home. It can be crowded for Sunday morning brunch though...
