Great place, the steaks are the best. Perfectly cooked and simple good food. Casual for it's price but you need reservations during the summer tourist season

The facility is "interesting." An amalgam of additions and remodels looking like they date back 40 years or so. The feel of "rustic" is for real. That will appeal to some and not to others.

That also provides a measure of variations of privacy and intimacy not ordinarily available as the restaurant is broken into a series of smaller rooms and nooks and crannies. The open kitchen is a nice feature and interesting to watch their excellent chefs at work and if you can get a table in that area of the restaurant, that's worth watching how Wolf Lodge earns its reputation..

The appetizers are great --- but holy smokes, they are filling. They can be whole meals in themselves. They're really good, but you have to be careful, the portions are generous and its easy to not leave room for the main meal.

The steaks are just outstanding. I've rarely had better anywhere and if I have, I can't remember where it was. This is a first class steakhouse. The prices are a little high compared to Applebees kinds of places, but low compared to Ruby's Chris steakhouses or similar upscale chains.

It's a nice setting, at the end more or less of a frontage road, with a pond and meadows and cows in back. Lake Coeur d'Alene is across the freeway in front of the Wolf Lodge but, unfortunately, it IS across the freeway which sits right there on the other side of the fence.

It's busy. If you arrive right when they open at 4, you can get a table, but after that, make sure you have reservations. This place is always packed.

The waitresses are decked out in cowboy gear. I guess this is part of the charm; it will work for some and not for others. On the other hand, they do seem to be very well trained and personable; they really know how to work tables and deal with people. Very consistently high class service, with a smile no less. It must be a great place to work for, as they are busy 8-10 hour shifts with no let-up, and yet they seem uniformly cheerful and helpful. When they ask "how you enjoyed your meal," they really seem to want to know, and seem anxious to know that it was a good experience.
