Traveling into Spokane on my way into Idaho I needed to eat so I quickly searched the Diners Drive Ins and Dive's options for Spokane. Hill's came up. It is downtown but on Saturday it was quiet and I found a parking spot with no trouble.

The food here is super. It is reasonably priced, the staff is casual but efficient and extremely helpful with the menu. My meal was outstanding and my family had the same experience. The food is fresh, hot and plated well.

After eating at Hills you can walk off the meal by heading a few blocks to the Carousel and reliving a bit of your childhood. Great location and a place that will not disappoint you.

The restaurant and bar is comfortable, but the good is completely below average, think Denny's. the service is a nightmare. There were two tables and one party sitting, and it took 1.5 hours to get served as a table of 3. Do not recommend anything more than a drink at the bar.

Guy says it all when he recommends the Elk Burger and the Cajun Chicken Fettuccine. Absolutely agree. Homemade and homegrown ingredients are only the start of the creativity and care that goes into every dish. It all tastes great, only problem is deciding what to have on my next visit.

Tuesday night arrival @ 6:05; out in 50 minutes.
Some minus points: waited 25 minutes for food, then waitress was confused as to whether she got the order right. Back & forth with our plates. BTW, can we have a water refill?
-Cup of yummy creamy split pea, served with Saltines--oh,no! $3.50 [suggest upgrade to interesting flatbread];
-Yummy Rueben sandwhich with room-temp coleslaw $8.95;
-Tasty hot fish & tepid chips $12.95.
Close to Auntie's Bookstore, INB Performances, Riverfront Park,Huppin's,pawn shops.

After hearing great things about the food, we went to try it on a friday night. Yes, the food was good. However we initially had to wait 15 minutes before our drink order was even taken, which would be excuseable. Unfortunately that was followed by an employee VACUUMING next to our table while we were trying to eat. The real kicker was when we waited 35 minutes for our check. Our glasses had been empty for at least 20 and there was only one other table occupied in the restaurant. We stood up and walked towards the bar area where the bartender looked at us and went back to talking. A cook walked out of the kitchen and looked at us and kept walking. We walked towards the door. CLeared our throats. We finally ended up leaving cash on the table because we STILL had not seen any waitress or received any help in regards to PAYING for our meal. Completely beyond disgusted with this establishment. I will not ever return.
