If you find yourself in this area of Spokane and in need of a quick meal, do yourself a favor and stop at Dick's Hamburger's.
It is an experience from start to finish. The staff are quick and organized. The cleanliness of the food area will surprise you, considering the outside looks like a dive (Which is half of the appeal).
You cannot beat the prices, the portions or the quality of this food when comparing it to other larger fast food chains.
In our week stay, we found ourselves back here 3 times and other friends said they returned on several occasions during their stay.
Plus, it was great for feeding hungry teenage boy’s after baseball games!
This is a true example of a ‘Don’t judge a book by its cover’ story.

Expecting great hamburgers with what my relative said. Didn't like the hamburger, fries were good, shake average. Wouldn't go out of my way to go there. The price was cheap- you get what you pay for. You order at the window, then if you are lucky enough can sit at a picnic table, otherwise you sit in your car. Don't recommend it.

Tried the Whopper with fries and a root beer melt. Everything was great! The neighbourhood is a bit shady, there are all sorts of characters there, but the food is worth it. No indoor seating, but there are outside picnic tables. Really pleasantly surprised by this cheap, tasty, retro food.

My husband and I saw this place on some TV show and made note of it for our upcoming trip to Spokane. We love diners and drive ins. This was really neither - you walk up to give your order. There's a few picnic tables, but it was a very warm day so we ate in our car with the AC on. Lots of menu choices, which I liked. My husband liked the burger - said he should have ordered a double. I ordered pizza - it was OK - way better than frozen, better than most national pizza places, not better than most pizza specialty places, but hey, they don't specialize in pizza. It was about the size of a paper plate for $3.75. Our entire meal was only $8.50, so how could you go wrong? OK, the surroundings were rough - the other patrons looked pretty rough - the place looked a little rough, but it's old. So just try it - you'll like it.

If you just want a cheeseburger and a good malted milkshake, don't want to pay exorbitant prices and are waxing a bit nostalgic for the drive ins of the 60s and 70s, Dick's is the place. There are some rare people watching opportunities that are provided as well. There were a few homeless/panhandlers in the parking lot when we went (around 4:30 on a Sunday afternoon), but by 5 the crowd was more of people stopping to grab a cheap, quick meal. Burgers are equivalent to what you would find on any fast food menu - condiments are basic (ketchup, mustard). My husband became a fan of the whammy washed down with a chocolate malted.
