“Very nice city park”
Reviewed July 18, 2014

Manito is a large and very nice city park. It has a duck pond, sandwich café, arboretum, beautiful flower gardens, hiking and walking trails and paths, and extensive lawn areas. I sometimes stop there when I have an hour or two and need a place just to rest and relax. You can spend two hours just walking through the gardens reading all the little black signs giving the name and information about each plant. You can sit outside under a tree and enjoy a sandwich from the old stone café. You can take the driving loop tour. You can clime to the top of the rock hill and look out across Spokane. You can visit the pond and watch the ducks. You cannot walk through and see it in two hours. In winter you can watch local children play on the sledding hill.

“Beautiful urban oasis”

This is a lovely place to stroll and enjoy nature. There are several distinctive areas, the rose garden was my favorite.

“Beautiful Gardens”
Reviewed July 15, 2014

This City Park is beautifully laid out and has three major garden areas that are well worth seeing. A fourth, the Lilac Garden must be beautiful when the lilacs are in bloom but when we went there was not much to see. The Perennial Garden is just beautiful with flowers in full bloom throughout the area, One very nice thing was the abundance of descriptive tags telling of the flowers and their names. Too often gardens might tell the names of some of the prominent flowers but here they are all identified. Rose Hill has roses from all over. It reminded us of the Portland Rose Garden, on a smaller scale but similar range and beauty. The Japanese Garden is a must see. There are small nooks of flowers, shrubs, statuary, waterfalls all surrounding a large pond with large Koi swimming in it. There are benches strategically placed to sit and contemplate the serenity and beauty. It is a well laid out, flowing garden that is ideal for viewing and reflection. One slight disconcerting occurance was the presence of a leaf blower shattering the solemnity. There should not be leaf blowers in a Japanese Garden.

“God's gentle touch is everywhere!”
Reviewed July 14, 2014

Manito Park is one of those great finds and the beauty of the place is breathtaking. Manito Park is in Spokane and it is one of the most beautiful spots for viewing flowers and plants from around the world. The indoor greenhouse is almost too much for the eye to take in. The cactus exhibit alone are enough to keep you snapping pictures for hours. My wife is a photographer so needless to say, I was there for quite some time and I thought prior to our arrival, it would be a long time waiting in the car. Not so! I was the one who did not want to leave and that was after several hours of walking through the greenhouse then outside among the beautiful displays. if you love flowers and nature of all kinds, this is a very special place and if you have time to visit, I would highly recommend you do so. It is one of those memories you want to carry with you day after day after day!

“Beautiful gardens”
Reviewed July 12, 2014

We love this park -- the gardens are beautiful although the signage could be improved. We never could find the lilac or Japanese gardens. The rose garden is unbelievable. We also enjoyed the little coffee/sandwich shop in the park. Awesome place to visit.
