“A Gem of a Park”
Reviewed May 13, 2012

This park has everything. The Rose Garden is impressive and the Arboretum is beautiful but the crown jewel is the Duncan Garden. The Davenport Fountain in the middle and the gazeabo behind it is a picture perfect setting. We have dinner at the picnic area overlooking the gardens several time in the summer. The Lillac Gardens are so wonderful in the early summer when all the lillacs are in bloom. The fragrance is intoxicating. There is a little snack shop that's open in the summer that's below the Duncan & rose Gardens. There are lots of places to take your dog for a walk (along as their on a leash). There is a large picnic area with a playground for large groups and a Swan and Duck pond (please don't feed the fowl). There is an impressive Japanese Garden that one of the finest in the country. The trails and scenic roads are a great for a short walk or all day hike. There is a suprize around every corner. You have to see it to really appreciate the beauty of this Olmstead Bros designed park.

“Great variety within the park”
Reviewed May 13, 2012

The thing that I love so much about Manito Park is that there's a great deal of variety in a relatively small space. There's: a conservatory, Japanese Gardens, Rose Garden, Dallia Garden and the usual park landscaping.

“Romantic walk around serene, peaceful gardens”
Reviewed May 5, 2012

This is the most romantic place to take your girlfriend or boyfriend. In the springtime, flowers are in bloom, except I'm not sure what has become of the rose garden. The Japanese garden is minimalist, but the rest of the grounds are amazing. The weeping willow trees and the lilacs, as well as the trees that look like cherry blossoms and yellow blossoms, and the evergreens that evoke memories of Christmas are all here. We went inside the main building during the weekday, where they have a variety of cacti and tropical plants, many that don't look real but are. They have very interesting names, as well. There is also an area outside that looks like a maze. The hedges are all trimmed and looks like from someplace in Roman times.
