“Spokane's Special Treasure”
Review of Manito Park

Manito Park
Ranked #1 of 103 things to do in Spokane

Attraction details
Reviewed January 6, 2012

Manito Park was originally designed by the Ohmstead Brothers, the same folks who designed Central Park in New York City. It has a certain classic elegance which is rarely found in City Parks.

This park has been beloved by generations of Spokane people. It is one of the most romantic places in the City. A lovely place to take a romantic walk, have a family picnic, or even spend some quiet time with a good book.

Old Timers remember that Spokane is the "Lilac City". There is a section of the park devoted to different varities of Liliacs. For two to three week severy spring, this section of the Park is absolutely glorious.Adjacent to the main Rose Garden is a collection of heritage roses which are especially amazing. .

Several times a year the "Friends of Manito" hold a Plant Sale to help rais emoney to
support projec s around the park. Outdoor concerts are offered during the summer.

During the summer months there is a little restaurant and coffee stand which is located in a period building in the center of the park. This is a ovely place to have a quiet cup of coffee with someone special to you.

Although I have heard about the conservatory Christmas decorations for years, we've never visited in December. It was beautiful but crowded with all people of all ages. The lights mingled around and throughout the plants were impressive. It was a nice Christmas experience. Make sure that you visit after dark, but that isn't difficult in December.

The park is an experience you should have with loved ones and either lunch / dinner or both. Drop the car and walk the park, you might be surprise to find the wonders, and watch you children eye's and they discover them too.

this is a great place to escape the traffic and city life - just over there. .

you can enjoy this year round as there is a greenhouse with a very well maintained habitat to enjoy in the dead of winter.
is summer!?!
Oh yeah - you will enjoy this place - even if you are like me and could care less about gardens [really?] yup - you will like it.
take your little girl by the hand and walk the paths.
in the hot summer days - the lawns are very welcoming -
the water fountain is animated too.

yes there is a rose garden close by and other theme parks within easy walking distances. from Oriental Bonsai green house to Japanese gardens with a great bridge over the Koi pond -
enjoy the walk around this park.
and look at those great homes around the edge -
there is something for everyone to look at.

Oh look - over there - a place in the shade under that tree - - -
that looks like a good place for a nap. . :)
