“Unimpressive rooms in the Tower”
Reviewed April 21, 2010

I have not stayed in the older historic building so this review is limited to the tower hotel across the street. The lobby's safari theme is OK and the the space has some decent seating but feels kind of cold. The rooms are another issue. all the furniture is built in and as a cheap looking faux finish on it. The beds have a wall frame of drywall infilled with mirror....very strange. The bath room feels very Super 8. Cheap fixtures and a soap and shampoo dispenser in shower...very tacky. In general this hotel does not feel like the 4 star type property it advertises itself to be. Strange ice bucket too.

Stayed several nights at the Davenport while we were in Spokane for the 1st and 2nd rounds of the NCAA tournament. We split our trip between two hotels. The Davenport was very nice and I loved the location - can walk to anywhere downtown.

The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is very beautiful. I did their "walking tour" and enjoyed it. The room we had was in the original hotel itself and not the "deluxe" room in the tower. We were on the 3rd floor. Our room was a bit tiny, but nicely appointed, quiet, comfy bed and nice linens. The bathroom was nice and had a huge walk in tiled shower.

Room service was right on time, but forgot one of our items. Prices weren't too bad.

Overnight parking I found to be expensive, but we took advantage of the free street parking, so saved some money there. The Peacock bar was nice. Tried to eat at the restaurant (Palm Court - ?) and they closed early at 9pm. - so had to go across the street for dinner.

Many shops, bars and restaurants around the hotel - so that was a big plus.

Would stay here again.

We stayed for 2 nights in a Tower Deluxe for a wedding. I was pleased with the stay and the hotel is definitely beautiful, but the amenities are a mixed bag.

First, the pros:
* the softest mattress and sheets I've ever slept in. I even contemplated buying one the next time we need to replace our mattress.
* car service to/from the airport is about the same price as a cab ride
* room service was quick and delicious
* friendly, swift service
* huge, walk-in shower!
* free WiFi with refreshingly fast download speeds

However, the room lacked a coffee maker; it seemed like a ploy to make you use the Starbucks in the lobby. Also, the soap dispensers were a cheap plastic kind you might find at the local Y. I appreciate hotels that try to cut down on waste with these dispensers, but they need to find fixtures that match the image they wish to present.

Last, but not least, the decor of the Tower Deluxe room was trying for some exotic luxe safari look, but failed. The faux animal prints and skins and the odd chaise just made what could've been a nice room look cheap and tacky.

I would stay here again, but would definitely upgrade to a penthouse level room, which includes a tub, fridge, and a fireplace. That's a world of difference from what's offered at the "Deluxe" level.

This is luxury at it's finest!! One of our favorite hotels!! The Safari Bar is wonderful!!! The peanut brittle on your pillow is amazing!! You can get more at the Candy Shoppe and it's so so good! If you use the tuen down service they will turn your linen down, fluff your pillow and dime the lights with mood music- it's a great romantic getaway!! If your visiting Spokane it is in walking distance to alot of shopping!! Highly recommended!

Spokane has put so much effort into revitalizing the downtown area, and at the heart of it all is the Davenport. I love the district popping up to the west of the hotel, with great billiard halls and art shops and coffee shops/bakeries. Head north, and you get all the fabulous shopping available at the Riverfront Mall (?). It was a beautiful time of year, and I took a great walk through Riverfront Park.

The hotel itself is breathtaking. I must have spent thirty minutes just sitting in the lobby, taking in the grand views. The gal at the front desk was pretty stuffy (I'd been on the road for a while before my arrival, and felt like I didn't look like I could afford the room?) but aside from that experience everything was phenomenal. VERY clean, wonderful room (my boyfriend and I had a King Deluxe room) and I slept very soundly on the comfortable bed.

If you stay, grab a bit to eat at Catacombs or the Steamplant Grill. Amazing architecture, and a better value than the fare in the hotel. Do check out the Peacock Room in the lobby, however. They make a mean cocktail.

This hotel was great. They picked me up in a limo and gave me a great rate on a room. The room was huge and it was super clean. Theres a mall just down the street and you can walk to just about all the stores you could want. The are an old historic hotel and they serve some great food. Its not cheep but its worth it.

First of all: This hotel has great beds, the most comfortable I have ever slept in. But during my stay, the hotel hosted most of the media covering and some athletes taking part in the national figure skating championships.

Maybe the stress explains why the front desk guy did not say "thank you" when I checked out. That might sound a little old-fashioned, but I paid a good $200/night there, so a little smile and a "thank you" when leaving are not asked too much.

The interior design (safari-look) for sure is something special in the northwest but it was a little bit too much for my liking.
