“Spectacular”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 2, 2013

My friend and I recently stayed at this hotel in the original hotel (we stayed at the Tower across the street a couple of years ago. It too is quite spectacular.) As you know, the Davenport is an elegant property and service is top notch.

We booked a double room. The beds are sooooooo incredibly comfortable. The furnishings in the room are elegant and harken to an old-world feel, as if in Europe. Just loved it! The room was really large and spacious as was the very modern bathroom. We had some trouble with the TV. It just simply froze while on. The remote didn't work, neither did the controls directly on the TV. Finally, I took a chance and unplugged it from the wall (just as you might do sometimes with your computer.) I waited a minute or two and then plugged it back in and voila! The TV worked fine after that.

All throughout the hotel and our room the wood seems to be polished, carved cherry and teak and walnut. Just beautiful! I've included a number of photos to show this.

Very friendly and efficient at check in and check out. Very helpful about how to get around downtown. The location of this hotel is superb. Its a short walking distance to shopping, parks and restaurants.

Please be sure to go into the lounge. The stain glass above the bar is soooo beautiful. Food and drinks in the lounge were delicious.

We used valet parking. Its really such a great convenience and the valets are very courteous as well as helpful with directions.

This hotel is so amazing it is difficult to describe in words. There is no other hotel in Spokane that can measure up to the Davenport. Whether you stay in the historic building or the new tower, you will have the most luxurious experience imaginable. The beds are amazing and the decor leaves nothing to be desired. Even the shower will impress you. The location is also wonderful since you are only two blocks from Riverside Falls Park and Mall. Be sure to have a coffee at Atticus near the falls. Do not feel this is a place just for couples. Bring your children and introduce them to beautiful architecture. There are plenty of restaurants in the area you can take them to and parks for them to visit. There is something for everyone at the Davenport.

Room Tip: Ask for a room not facing the street if you would like a quieter room.

We stayed in a tower suite Valentine's Day. It was supposed to be a nice treat and splurge for me and my husband. We drove from Seattle so arrived late (about 11:30 or so). There was no one at the valet. We unloaded all of our own luggage and left the car. We checked in and had to ask what we needed to do with the car, it was just sitting there. They called someone to the desk to take the key. There was no offer to help us with our luggage so we had to take up our two large suitcases and bags up ourselves. I made sure when we checked out that we were not charged the $20 fee for valet service as I didn't think we received any service.

Room service was closed by the time we got settled in so we ended up walking to a diner in the neighborhood. There is no coffee in the room so we had to go get it ourselves at the Starbucks in the lobby on our way out. It just isn't the same as sipping on coffee in bed in the privacy of your own room.

Overall, I was a little disappointed in the service and the overall experience. It was my first stay at the Davenport and they have such a great reputation. It almost seemed like we went to a completely different hotel. I was expecting a special treat, a little bit of luxury and pampering. Overall it was lackluster. I would not do it again and I wouldn't splurge for a suite. The only notable exception to our stay was the fabulous bed which is probably the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in.

We stayed there as a surprise for my now husband an Erik at the concierge desk was wonderful an helped. The rooms are beautiful at the tower it is more modern, we have stated at the original davenport which is more classic. The staff is friendly at both and you can't get better customer service.

we stayed in The Davenport Hotel in October 2012. Service could not have been better, the room was amazing - and so large. The shower in the bathroom was bigger than the whole bathroom in the hotel we stayed in on our way home! We did the self guided tour, which shows you the history of the "old" hotel. The only downside to the whole experience was that there is no coffee machine in the room (but Starbucks is ion the lobby) and the only water available is at a $2 a bottle - so bring in your own supply! We found that the service in the Tower was very much the "norm" the staff did not appear to go the extra mile as they did in the hotel. Oh, and don't forget to take advantage of the free use of the town car service during the day - going shopping using a limo gives me another tick off my bucket list!

Room Tip: Rooms on higher floors have a better view and generally seem to be larger

I stay in the old Hotel not the Tower so my comments are on the old place...which is absolutely stunning. Service is beyond reproach from the front desk to the valet and the wait staff in the restaurants. Even the young lady at the Starbucks lobby coffee shop is more charming than any Seattle barrista I've met.

Rooms are splendid - I got the third night free deal and booked a King Suite - worth every penny.

Room Tip: If your budget allows a King Suite in the old Hotel ask for #1213
