“OVERALL GREAT EXPERIENCE”
Reviewed July 19, 2011

We just got back from spending 5 nights at the Oxford Suites while we attended a Church Women's gathering at the Convention Center.

We were greeted warmly at the airport by our shuttle driver Bob, who pointed out sites and gave trip suggestions as he drove us to the hotel, which we very much appreciated. He even offered to shuttle us to area restaurants during our visit, if needed.
Because of an early flight, we arrived at the hotel before noon, but were still able to promptly check in. We had a King suite, which really wasn't a suite to us, one room with a small half wall separating the seating area. It was not large but the space was used effieciently so it still very much met our needs. It had a king bed (comfy!!) , a comfortable couch, and a handy fridge and microwave. The sink was in the room, with the cozy (as in small) bathroom that just had the tub and toilet. That worked out well for us 2 friends as one could shower while the other used to sink area.
The desk staff was consistantly professional and helpful during our stay. Although the included breakfast was not gourmet it more than met our needs, with scrambled eggs and cubed home fries served daily with alternating meats (2 days ham, 2 days link sausage, and 1 day patty sausage), and varying breads. Fruit, yougart, cereals and little muffins or danish, were also available daily. We had friends staying at the Doubletree and Red Lion and they cost the same, or more and did not have an included breakfast at all. We also could have 2 drinks nightly at the evening reception, which also had veggies and dip and pasta salad available. Again nothing gourmet, but way more than what the neighboring hotels offered.
When we rented a car toward the end of our stay, they took us to the airport to pick it up and even had free parking at the hotel (another thing the neighbors didn't offer). We also liked the smaller size of the hotel, 125 or so rooms compared to 300 or more of the neighbors I previously mentioned.
Although not quite as close to convention center as the neighbors, it was a quick walk on the Division St bridge or a slightly longer but more pleasant walk through the beautiful park, which we felt very safe walking in, even in the evening. If I would ever come back to Spokane, I would definitely choose to stay here again.

We stayed two nights and loved being right in the river. It was nice to have free parking and having a short walk down town to see the sights and shop.

We arrived to find our reservation for a family suite was given to someone else, and ended up in a room that was far too small for our family. While the rate was reduced, it was still a big inconvenience to squeeze all of us into a smaller room. The next day, the staff moved us to the suite we originally booked, which was much better.

The "Manager's Reception" was a bowl of carrots and broccoli. Really. Why bother?

HOWEVER, the trip ended with our vehicle being burglarized in the hotel parking lot. Thieves smashed a window to break in and took everything that wasn't nailed down.

I've stayed at hotels in downtown Spokane for years and have never had issues like this. I recommend either the Double Tree or the Red Lion...the rooms aren't necessarily nicer than at the Oxford, but you'll at least get the room you booked and your vehicle will be safe.

Room Tip: Stay at the Red Lion

Just returned home from a "staycation" to Spokane for part of Memorial Day weekend. Spent two nights at the Oxford Suites and have no problem recommending this hotel to anyone! Check in was a breeze, lobby was nice and all the staff was very nice. The ONLY reason we won't stay here again is we like to try different places everytime we visit a location. Odds are we'll try someplace else if/when we visit Spokane again.

Pros
- Good breakfast, not "great" but more than suffice and kept us full!
- Location! Easy walk to Riverfront Park and to the downtown mall. (we were a family of 5 with a 4, 6 and 14yo)
- Free Parking
- Free internet
- Steam Room!

Cons
- Pool was cold, but the kids still managed to have fun
- Room had a bit of a smell, but nothing to worry about or to scare me off.

I'm not 100% sure on the room numbers overlooking the river, but the higher the number the better. We were in Room 200 and were on the North end of the hotel, furthest from the river. But, the rooms on the South end with the best view have balconies and appear to be suites, not sure what the price would be.

Room Tip: bigger number the better!

Great location along the river, except it's the north side and most of the action is on the south side of the river. Super easy to find, even for my directionally challenged husband. The hotel itself was extremely quiet, however our room was right off the elevator, so we got to listen to it going up and down the whole time. Our king suite was very spacious, clean, and I was thrilled to find they provided lotion (the last few places I stayed did not). Our room also included 2 tickets each for drinks at the evening reception and breakfast tickets for the next morning. The breakfast was very good, but kind of a small selection. There were a couple different types of cereal, scrambled eggs, potatoes (the cubed kind), ham, toast, bagels, coffee, tea, juices. If you order from Food to You (in the "room service" menu), know they told me it would be an hour but it only took 30 minutes on a Friday night at 6:30.

We stayed at the Oxford Suites on April 8, 2011. When we first arrived we were pleased with our room. However, we were not pleased when we had to change our own bedding at 1am because our sheets and pillow cases were covered in what appeared to be black dog hair! There was nothing the front desk person could do for us at the time except tell us that there were clean sheets in the closet. I brought the dirty bedding to the front desk to show him how disgusting and apalling this was; it appeared to us that the previous guests used sheets had not been changed. At checkout we asked for a discount on our room as compensation but we were told they couldn't do anything for us.
